FRIDAY, July 23rd 2004: X-Mas in July Party
 
Even if you have never heard of Miss Kittin, you have heard her distinctive monotone vocals more times than you may realize. Often working with electro/techno producer, The Hacker, she’s covered “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)”, disparaged Frank Sinatra on a Danny Tenaglia CD, admits her murderous penchant for kitchen cutlery and extols the virtues of life on MTV. Her vocal work on Felix da Housecat’s seminal “Kittenz and thee Glitz” album was probably her first exposure to the general American EDM audience. Well not only can she sing, Miss Kittin is an incredibly talented techno/electro DJ, as demonstrated on her Radio Caroline Vol. 1 mix CD.
Also on this night: John Selway is a creative “by-product” of the early 90s DC rave scene who catapulted his global techno recognition with his pristine production techniques. His 2001 album “The Edge of Now” was years ahead of the electro trend. Tonight we welcome him “home” to DC for a night of main room techno at Cubik.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY
It's the thick of summer on the East Coast -- hot, hazy and very humid. But if you 'think' cold enough, Buzzlife can produce an ice-Cubik event that will have you swearing it was December. We're decking the entire club in Yuletide flavor -- Christmas tree, garland, glitter, snowflakes, blinking lights -- the complete works. Even the cold air. Remember the cryogenic blasts in the past? Buzzlife's polar connections at this moment are directing Arctic air our way, and it's guaranteed to arrive in DC on Friday, July 23rd. Word of caution: Arctic air and East Coast heat don't mix too well, so expect a refreshing, combustibly icy fog to swallow up the main room throughout the night. But it isn't Christmas without St. Nick, that's why we've invited Sister "Santa" Face and all "her" elves back at the club. You can get free Polaroids taken with you and your friends on stage with Santa. Buzzlife is setting up a Toy Drive too! Bring to the club a new, unwrapped toy to be distributed to low-income day-care centers in SE DC.
