what do you think of it? 80's influences? how popular is it in your country?

whenever I hear an electro track in a trance set it sounds nice but when I hear an electro set its total crap.

i dont know yo,but sasha has been hammering some progressive with electroish twist to it! and its in mind blowingggggggggg.

A lot of it can be crass and annoying (especially on the electroclash side of things) but I think you're probably listening to the wrong sets. Check out some of the stuff that guys like Vitalic, Miss Barbara and Miss Kittin pump out in their sets and tell me it doesn't rock your world.

I think "crass and annoying" sometimes may be just the point, especially with those old video gamey noises and rez zaps, not to mention the monotone-inflected computer (or non-computer) vocals and the tinny hi-hat stuttering, and the . . . etc. etc.

One of the best takes on electro I've ever heard, contemporarily, would have to be John B's electro-styled DnB. Also a pioneer behind other hybrids like trance-n-bass, John B's "American Girls (Electric Boobies Mix)" is a real tease-pleaser! He also has other tracks like "Electrostep" which is self-explanatory. Really class, quality-produced ch00nage.

In Russia electro-clash and new wave of synth-pop are VERY popular! Everyone listen to Tiga, Miss Kittin, Chicks on Speed... but I love TRANCE.

I'm not a big electro guy, but I can listen to the high quality stuff all night... the kind of music Keoki used to play at Limelight in the 80's with the clubkids:clown:

if you want to hear really good electro, check out the soundtrack from the movie "Party Monster"

Keoki, there is a hasbeen. Remember he thought he was the greatest of all time and then promoters would not book him because his attitude sucked. I like electro at times, I'm not a huge fan but I don't dismiss it. I'm a big fan of ghetto tech with Dj Assault, his stuff is so funny.

I actually saw Kittin recently and felt a sudden urge for SLEEPING. It was like being part of a Nintendo game with all the random, disharmonic noise, blepps and claps, broken beats here, electro riff there....definitely unenjoyable and impossible to dance to. Electro can be fun at times, but not this kind of it....I like the few electro track Sven Vaeth adds to his sets.

Oh, and the Ecltro-Hype seems to fade again, looks like Acid is coming back strongly
