150 - 6. Kinda sums it up really, especially when you consider who the "nay" votes were.

Try the 51st state of the US. Why worry ourselves with sovereignty and democracy when John Howard and his intrepid crew of weasels and right-wing zealots can just force us to follow every directive the motherland passes down? Even with all the sucking-up he can't get the US to give us a decent FTA! :(
I'm not sure what Micronesia and Palau have to gain by voting this way either, but I thought that the Marshall Islands were a US colony of some sort to begin with? |

| Micronesia has always, on every occasion, voted for Israel. Don't ask me why, though. One of the mysteries of life, I guess :conf: |

Once this israeli-palestinian conflict ends.. there will be world peace.I'm pretty sure about that.
No more terrorists fighting for freedom and unjust causes. No more Jews feeling despised around the world.US will just keep its mouth shut. The Arab world wont have anything more to complain.
And the rest of the world will not be pressured to choose which side to play on.
The End. |

The disturbing thing is, if you asked the average American about their view of us, they probably aren't going to know where Australia is -- let alone that we've become their 51st state. Howard playing 'me too!' isn't going to get us anywhere, but hopefully we won't have to put up with him much longer. The sooner we elect Mark Latham, the better.
On another note: www.johnhowardlies.com makes for interesting reading. :p |

As tathi mentioned, Africa is still a volatile region, and we've still got North Korea to contend with. There are also groups like JI still active in South East Asia, and then there's the prospect of the China-Taiwan situation escalating.
I'd like to agree with you, but I'm afraid that I can't. |

i doubt world peace is possible in the future unless there is some paradigm shift in human thinking (face it, we arn't the most irenic creatures on earth :/ )
There will always be profits to be made, borders to be exploited, resources to be annexed, insecurity complexes to be gratified, etc. |
