explain to me why tickets are 25 $ for one dude (that i'd love seeing mind you esp since joof satisfied yet left us wanting more aug 1st), when tickets for marco v, astral proj. and push were 20$ |

That's a fair question.
The explanation is that the other party you referred to probably drew thousands of partiers (I'm guessing...) yet the psy-trance scene in Toronto is very small (it would be exceptional for a local psy party to get even 400 partiers) so to bring in big-name psy-trance acts, everyone has to shell out a few extra dollars to make it happen.
On the other hand in the psy-trance scene you'll find that the parties have a much more intimate and tight-knit community-oriented vibe...you won't wind up being rammed into some hot venue being bumped around by sweaty shirtless e-tards (I'm referring to the Guvernment/Docks type events here).
Different strokes for different folks I guess... |

Hey man, we certainly sympathize.
However, good news. It is worth pointing out that we have attempted to take your price concerns into account by lowering the price to $20 if you arrive before 11PM.
It's about the most we can do. Between trying to throw parties to a very small Toronto scene (as mentioned), trying to continually bring Toronto some quality free events (i.e. we rent fairly high-powered gear for our free parties rather than renting the cheapest stuff available - for our beach parties, Teknival, etc.) we have invested much more money directly into parties in Toronto than we have gotten out (or will get out in any forseeable future).
Also one last thing, some of the larger events in this city are sponsored by various entities. I don't know whether those parties you mentioned were sponsored or not, but that can CERTAINLY affect ticket prices.
Of course, if we brought Smirnoff on board, we likely wouldn't be bringing Toronto one of the lesser-known, leading edge international producers like Wizzy Noise! :) (Although the cash would be nice ... mmmm cash ...)
Cheers from the cosmic babies crew, |
