I'm a little biased because i've been to Whistler so many times, and i have relatives there. It's the only Mountain i have been snowboarding on, and it was awesome!!!!

P.S. Grouse Mountain in Vancouver was OK as well...:p

Aussie land is right.....I think I met more Australians than Canadians when I was in Whistler. I had a ty snow week when I was there....first week of january and it was just at freezing at the midpoint of the mountain so we had rain/super heavy powder/sleet/rain/fog. I will stick to mountains that have their bases at 6000+ ft. instead of having their summit there (as whistler does).

Try boardin' Mad River Glen...haha...viele gluck!

How did you board there? Mad River Glen is a skiiers only mountain. But it is good . No groooming whatsover ... fun tree skiing. Anyway in Europe my two favorite places are the Zugspitze in Germany or Kitzbuel in Austria. As for the US, Park City is good, Heavenly and Snow-something in Tahoe are good, Vail of course is good, going to a small place in Colorado ... Durango this year. North East skiing sucks until you get to some of the places North of Killington.

Just got a new pair of Saloman X-screams and Lange boots. Can't wait to seriously break them in this year, I need to focus on my trick jumping.

As for this Spec guy ... he sounds like the type of e r I hate on the slopes. I have respect for boarders who are there to board and know enough to be respectful on the mountain. Hook up??? Who the is on the slopes trying to hook up?? Those goddamned wannabe noobs get in their ing social groups right on a sweet lip or jump and sit on their asses for 30 minutes socializing and building up the courage to do a 180 or catch 2ft of air and proceed to plow a path down the rest of the mountain. And those goddamned rookies always think they're the .

Anyway I'd be more than happy to ski with somebody who thinks skiiers are weak. I'll take you to some fun places where you can school me :p

I went to college with the ops manager of Mad River Glen and a couple times a season when they supposedly shut down the mountain, they let the snowboarders try to kill themselves. I was Sonny Bono'ing myself all over the place. Sick rush tho on a board.

Snowboarding is lots of fun

skiing isnt for sissys, pointed elbow people, people who look gay (well mabye some who are trying to, but who cares?), people who wear clothes and mainly guys that never pick up and girls that never get picked up, and not for people who try to copy boarding tricks? skiing was before snowboardin dumbass

point is: snowboarding and skiing are lots of fun

spec isnt

Ahhh that explains it. You're one of the lucky few boarders to go on it I guess :p. Yea I discovered that place almost by chance. I most certainly wasn't expecting an experience like that on the east coast. Most places are gravitating towards being commercial.
beats and beeps
Man, spec people are right when they say youre a ing moron, i mean i probably favour boarding to skiing, but ive seen good skiers pull of some insane stuff, lots of skill involved. And you said the technology is outdated? what the are you saying they are essentially the same materials, just shaped differently, Ski bindings are more complex than board bindings anyways... Millions of dollars are still put into developing new kinds of skis, so ummmm shut up.

And being commercial is why all but the select few mountains have begun allowing boarders and are building "terrain parks".

Snowboarding is the trendy winter sport at the moment, and the mountains are taking advantage of that by catering to this influx of new (because in many cases, the trend following boarders would never have even attempted skiing) customers they can fleece.

Hey, don't get me wrong, I'm all about terrain parks :p. I'd take a terrain park over moguls any day of the week. But yea I would agree that a lot of places are commercializing in order to appeal to families and new people. Most kids 5-12 tend to ski because their parents ski. They're new and ty but they mostly stick with their parents on the bunny slopes. Ages 12-18 generally board because it's pop culture. They typically go out in groups, and venture out onto some of the more difficult slopes despite being too sucky to be out there. That age bracket is the one I hate the most. They suck and they're too stupid to know they suck. Ages 18+ starts to get somewhat better. Usually by then you've been skiing/boarding for a few years to know what's up. That or you're smart enough to catch on when skiiers or boarders glare at you as you're cutting through their line.

The solution is probably not to do a skiier or snowboarder only thing, but to eliminate all the bunny or single diamond blue slopes. That way you effectively weed out all the idiot boarders and skiiers.
