opinions on where trance is heading....

Ok guys, i been thinkin about this for a while... Trance is made up of melody basically... (basically guys, dont blast me) i was thinkin is the combination of melody's ever going to run out and no more combinations are going to be available??? like is there gonne be productions where they all just end up sounding like other songs and we all call em rip off's? Like ATB always using the same synth... with different variations..
dont know if ya's know what i mean, but for those of u that do, what do u rekon??? |

so you R worryng abt melodies running out? Dont worry :D this will never happen :D
as for the synths... Im sure that great minds (like PvD, Tiesto, Ferry + others) will soon discover some new synths :D |

| I don't think trance will go any where for the simple reason when it does it's just called Proggresive.I know it's only a name but if u keep doing it you just end up with everything trance sounding the same. What's the point of having a group of small styles when you can have one big one that does,nt sound the same. ANy way I think trance will go breakbeat soon. Loads of songs have at least on sample and some that have it all the way through eg Xtasia Sweetness (Original) Bbrainchild Symmetry C (langes breakbeat mix ) and some others. I much pefer this and I'd like to see more bass lines like in Heliotropic Alive. |

I don't think trance is is going anywhere but it has definitely taken the backseat in major influenced areas like europe in areas such as england...
the progressive sound has sweeped NYC ever since digweed got big @ twilo that has been the wanted sound that I have noticed.
But just give it time and trance will get big again...might be another year might be another 2-3 years, but it isn't going anywhere.
Don't be afraid to listen to trance artists spinning more progressive sets (ie. pvd - hr xxl clubnight 08-18-01) because it's a good thing to join trance & the progressive sound.
I don't mind trancey breaks...but I don't like plain ole breaks... |

| Trance music will never stop being made but the styles will change and as old DJ's and Producers run out of idea's or burn out new one's with fresh approaches will come to the forefront. As many ppl on this board will tell u (me including) Trance has taken a new direction from what made it globally popular in 1998/1999. The new tunes made these days are not strictly trance they are a combination of trance/techno/house. The future of trance is good because there are more people who love trance then was the case a few years ago...the only way that Trance could die is when ppl stop caring about it...which I don't think will happen. |
