Incredible meeting with Empirical Labs (as in the MASSIVE Turtle Beach!)

I agreed to help a promoter friend of mine since he needed to provide Pioneer CDJs (CD Turntables) for a Dutch DJ that was spinning at a club. It was a Drum & Bass party, so I wasn't too excited about lending my CDJs or going to the club, but I thought to myself, you never know what you might find... The headliner (the dutch DJ) was a member of BSE (Black Sun Empire), a very well known Drum & Bass trio (which I had no clue about of course).

As I talk to this DJ about my CDJs, the scene in Europe, and how I spin Progressive/Trance, he mentions to me that he's also signed on Armin van Buuren's label. But wait, Armin doesn't dig Drum & Bass right? He tells me "We signed on with the name Empirical Labs." I almost pissed myself. I was chatting with the genius (one of the three) behind the insta-classic "Turtle Beach" without having a ing clue. So apparently, he only spins Drum & Bass, but works with his 2 partners on producing Trance as a side project which not many people are aware of.

But holy , what a side project! Outback, which are responsible for the only remix of Turtle Beach, have received a remix to their track "Cause and Fact" (or something along those lines) by Empirical Labs. Empirical Labs will also be releasing a tune which Milan (the DJ) said was gonna be incredible, called "Empirical Labs - Timeloss"

After talking for a while, he stepped into the DJ Booth, and proceeded to tear the club apart with my CDJ800s, and for the first time ever, I went crazy dancing my ass off to Drum & Bass. The energy was overflowing out of the club windows.

An awesome guy, awesome DJ, and incredible producer. If you read this Milan, or either of your partners, thank you, best of luck, and don't stop producing trance!!!! And since this might be the first and last time a world-known DJ/producer spins on my decks, of course, I asked him to autograph it. I ing love music. This is like winning the lottery for a tranceaddict.

Part of the reason I didn't invite too many people was because it was very short notice, and second, because it was Drum & Bass. I didn't know there was gonna be such a great vibe there, I was very impressed. Milan is a badass dude, can't wait for their new track "Timeloss"

They started with the name "Charger" as in 'Charger - Turtle Beach' but when they switched labels to release it, they changed their name to Empirical Labs. He also mentioned they liked the melody they made for Turtle Beach so much that they did a drum & bass track with the same melody called "Swipe" on their album "Driving Insane".

I've never bought a drum & bass album, and probably never will again, but this one I have to pick up, this guy tore the club apart. Even a hardcore tranceaddict like myself could appreciate it.

Hey Andres, now you have to have Keoki and Pish Posh sign your cdjs at next months show. man, that and priceless look on Keoki's face when he finds out he's playing at a rollerrink are all I need to convince me to go. Good job.
