Serato Scratch Live Questions for New DJ

Ok, I am in the process of deciding on some decks. I am a new DJ but know that I want to use the Serato program with my eventual new decks. I am not looking to do turntablalist style DJing, more continual work (example Tiesto, Paul van Dyk, etc). So, mixing songs together.
My question is this; I am considering purchasing the following decks and am wondering if they are compatible with Scratch Live.
http://www.music123.com/Numark-DJ-I...-6-i79385.music
Decks - 2 TT1550 multi-directional efficient belt drive turntables
Mixer - DM950 2 channel + mic mixer with EQ on each channel and slider style cuing
Is this all compatable with Serato Scratch Live? If not, what would I need to get? Is belt or direct drive to work with Scratch Live and for what I am looking to do?
But what I'm asking is, will both belt drive and direct drive work with SSL? One any better than the other?
And, will a 2 channel mixer work with SSL? Those are my main questions.
I hope I didn't ask to many questions as I am new to DJing.
Thanks

You need relatively stable decks to spin SSL on because beatmatching is even a little bit more difficult that with normal records. I wouldn't go belt drive with normal vinyl anyway. |

Also, I hope you plan on still purchasing records, as getting SSL to just spin downloaded Mp3's is a total waist of money, unless you plan on never playing out anywhere or getting paid for your work.

Nah... forget that old style thinking. This past weekend I went to see a killer lineup that included Deep Groove, Marco V, M.I.K.E. and Astral Projection AND EVERY ONE OF THE USED ONE OF THE NEW MIXING TOOLS.
I'm assuming they got paid. They most certainly were "playing out somewhere". It took all of one song for each of them to hook into the club's sound system.
There will always be ludites who think that vinly is better than CDs, analogue is better than digital, horse and carriages are better than cars, etc. But the people who are shaking up the world of dance music have all uniformly embraced new technologies.
Go for it. Have fun.
(I bought RS Scratch and love it., BTW... FS makes me a bit nervous though.)

err... Chris... i think he meant that playing downloaded mp3's on new mixing technology is bad, not the technology or methods themselves. i believe he was referring to the situation where you buy something like SSL to just download mp3s off the web and not pay for your music, yet try to get paid for playing it, aside from it being a huge disrespect to the artists, it's also ty because the sound quality would generally suck... |

Uhm... Ok. Would it be any excuse to say i was drunk when I wrotye that? I took him to be one of the people who argue that vinly is the only true artform, etc. etc.
I'm embarassed now. |
