I just picked this up today and am having a blast listening to it. Anyone know of some other good compilations similar to it? Stuff that has a deep bassline and nice melodies, etc.

I would tend to agree, with the exception of a few shoddy releases.

Most GUs are good, with a few exceptions. I would recommend

GU11 - Warren Budapest
GU12 - Seaman (cant remember where but its amazing)
GU13 - Sasha, Ibiza (im sure you must have heard this at some stage)
GU14 - Digweed Hong Kong
GU18 - Warren Amsterdam
GU21 - Deep Dish Moscow
GU25 - Deep Dish Toronto

also check out Bedrock by John Digweed from 1999 - ie this release

Well yeah the answer can be big, but this compilation seems to have a much harder pounding bassline than normal, which is sweet. I have all those other GU releases, but I will check out Digger's Bedrock CD.

Imo, GU006 was Digweed's trance slant but it had some deep driving tracks, it is a Digweed trait. Gu014 is more prog trance leaning but has more prog elements, you see Digweed's growth into progressive. Both albums were still deep, The bedrock compilation is more progressive leaning then GU019 is just dark house and dark progressive, it shows how Digweed's style has moved on. Digweed still plays trance believe it or not, just when he plays live. The GU series shows how a deejay has progressed in style, dave seaman's was another example, GU 12 was prog trance and a bit of house, GU016 was more progressive with some trance and GU022 was progressive. Look at Nick Warren's GU, his trait is most of his tracks have a fierce minimal energy to them. GU003 was straight trance, GU008 was more prog trance leaning, GU011 was even more prog trance, GU018 was progressive and GU024 was chillout and the second CD was a mix of minimal trance, prog and house.

add 007,008,009 into the mix plus 004 and 006

015 and 020 are also great
