First off, I want to say that James Holden freaking rocks! I was able to meet him and talk with him a bit while the opening guy was playiing.
As for the club, if you have been upstairs at Avalon, you have been to the Spider Club. What they call the Spider Club is just the second floor of Avalon, but shut off from the first floor and the balcony area.
The sound was very bad. It seemed like they were using cheap speakers or something, because it did not have a good sound at all. My fiance would not even dance with me, and left the room to be away from it.
Also, they have the usual Avalon (lack of) security, which always makes me nervous.
In the future I will not be going to the Spider Club.
As for James Holden, that guy is a freaking madman on the tables. I have never seen someone who plays so much with the music and is so creative while up there. This guy is a great DJ.
I really wish that he had the whole house at Avalon, or Spundae for that matter. He diserves it (though I don't know how big his following is here.)
Anyways, he is a really cool guy, very talented, and I will go to great lengths to see him play again. That is all.
Oh, I met Dave Dean, James Holden, and I saw Leon from TCH, as well as my favorite bartender Ernesto at this event.
