This is why I used to love trance.
The first hour is some beautiful trance. It brings back so many memories of sketchy mornings with someone special, bus rides home to London from toronto...
The second hour kicks off a bit more of a harder flavor of trance with Midfield General's Coatnoise (Dave Clarke remix). Around 75 minutes you hear the beginning of flight 643 vs Hide U - my fondest memory of his October 2001 show at Kool Haus...I will never tire of Hide U and all of its remixes.
What happened to trance? this set is perfect IMO. But shortly after this came out I got really bored of trance. I download stuff occasionally to check if there's anything out there that I like.
Nope. |

At the time of this set Tiesto was untouchable !
Unfortunately these days Tiesto shows his true magik only during very special occasions like Tiesto in Concert. |

His track selection has just gone completely downhill. When I heard him at aria, he was trying to balance too much uplifting trance with hard trance and also progressive. there was no flow.
The first track in this essential mix is awesome.
This set has too many memories; it's f'en me up just listening to it. |

Solid EM from Tiesto, and definately one of those sets that made him more popular in subsequent years. Still, as far as quality trance sets go, i would go back a few years when PVD threw down what was arguably his finest EM.

| even though i dont listen to tiesto much anymore, he's still my favorite dj, just because no other dj has been as good as he used to be in my opinion (so far), sasha's really my favorite at the moment, but all time favorite dj goes to tijs. |

Yeah that's more or less correct...he's still making great music and playing great sets but he reserves the best of the best for massive events - or maybe he just doesn't like us in TO that much. He will be in SPACE in Miami on sept 24th and I've heard so many good things about the legendary sets he throws there I'm thinking maybe I should take a trip to Miami to catch him there ;) |

as an aside, a DJ should not be saving his best for massive events. He/she should be giving 100% towards each and every set. Saving the good stuff for massive events is ridiculous. |

Well I'm thinking after you play 2-3 gigs almost every week - travelling non stop all over the world and doing it for 4-5 years or so it get's a lil tiring and repetitive...I personally don't blame him...he's only human - just like PVD and everyone else...
Besides that makes big events like TIC or other major festivals he plays in much more special and something "to look forward to" as they say. |

| This was a strange set to me when i first heard it. I was a huge tiesto fan at the time, but when I heard that set, it was a far more 'mature' and progressive sound. I really loved the set, but I was totally expecting it to be uplifting trance way back then. Since then tho, I haven't been able to get into the uplifting stuff anymore. |
