This was in the July/August issue of DJ Mag... the "Kicked Back" Letter. Don't know if anyone has read this already!!
quote: | Here is something for all who praise Tiesto. Picutre this... You are a Dj for years, and start producing. You work hard to master your sound and spend countless hours everyday making a track in the hopes it it will be released one day. Then, you send an email to Tiesto's managment, with a remix request for one of your tracks, and the answer you get: "we only do remixes for established (famous or Big) Dj's and cannot help you". I ask you this... who the made Tiesto what he is today? WE DID! Buying his CDs, his vinyl, and purchasing his overpriced tickets to his ing shows. I think the very least Tiesto can do is try helping the very people who made him, instead of making the big get bigger. I never thought I would say this, but Tiesto, and every other ing Dj/producers who sucked money from me for 15 years and didn't even care about the actual people that got them to where they are today. This industry is nothing more than a political pot for the Djs/producers who just dont give a about anything except taking as much as they can in as little time possible. this is where I say goodbye to the only thing I ever loved in my whole life, and thanks to the "big guys" who have taken that from me. I hope you enjoyed all of my in money over the past 15 years. Was it all worth it? |
:haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: |

^^ yeah really. He can't expect them to be all over his . If that were the case they'd have millions of people sending them stuff. I understand his anger but it's no reason to just "say good bye to the only thing you've ever loved in your life." That's hypocritical; if he really did love it, he wouldn't stop it because of one friggin turn down.
his pride was probably hurt. boo hoo. |

These 'established DJ's' are also probably too chicken- to promote anyone else who would end up being another competitor in the industry. Now, if he were to do a remix of a Tiesto track, and it were good, there's a chance that would get signed. Much harder to get a 'big name' to remix a track from an unknown.
On a side note, this letter borderline sounds like a suicide note, don't u think? |

Not really, well I dont think so. If anything, just a very bitter and angry goodbye to the world of DJing and producing. |

lame...
maybe its me, but doesn't a track get remixed only if its good......before this guy goes asking tiesto for a remix, how about first getting the track signed......d'uh
tiesto is a busy guy, probably get tracks sent to him all the time, and can't say yes or even listen or play every one....dude seems to be trying to make it big on others reputations... "like c'mon, i must be good if tiesto remixed my tune...." |

the one thing that got me alittle peeded off about tiesto, was when he was at guv. he came on, played like a 2 hour set (not sure exactly how long, i forget, but it wasnt to long at all) then that was it, booked it. it was sooooooo packed that night, everyone wanting to see him, and alittle set, then left. i guess we cant expect him to play like an 8 hour set like corsten lol, and it was my first time seeing him, and i heard that was the norm for other clubs in canada that had him. but if its that packed, and your a dj that loves the music, and your so awesome, which dont get me wrong, he is, then please let me go nuts and hear it for longer! haha. i guess i was just planning on a guv night ending with tiesto. it was a great time when it happend, but please tiesto, a longer set. but maybe just maybe, he wanted to end it quicker, so some people could leave, and there would be room to breath and dance, cause that night, SUPER packed. "SUPER!" lol |

His "underground bubble" burst
People seem to have this romantic notion that this music is underground. It hasnt been for decades. So when they run into the corperate machine that is the music industry (in any genre) then they get pissed off or disappointed. Ive seen many examples of this right here on TA. |

He was scheduled 1-4 and spun till almost 4:30... i dno what 2hr set u speak of... Unless ur talkin about another time he was here, and not this past June...
Plus, his NA tour, he was spinning like 5 nights a week...
that weeke specifically he spun tuesday in edmonton, wed in vancouver, thurs here, fri in montreal, sat & sun in the states... plus he looked dead tired when he was spinning too. Theres so much demand to see him (i mean u remember how packed it was), and he tries to be everywhere to satisfy everyone (and make $$ obviously). I dno of any DJ that has a schedule thats as ridicously packed as his. And yet he's still only been here in once in the past year. It says alot.

As for the remix thing... seems like the dude is crying cuz Tiesto wont remix his track. I'm sure PVD, armin,or anyone else would of done the same thing. He doesnt have the time for that kinda , and im sure he gets thousands of demos, and lots of other ppl with similar requests. He's busy enough as it is. Plus, it seems like he's trying to "make it" by using Tiesto's success. Common, get it released first, then maybe u can get ppl to remix it (if they even want to)...
Funny thing is, this guy must of actually thought Tiesto would do it. Maybe his management could of been a bit more "nicer" with thier reply, but common, Exergo said it best...

Yah I agree with what most of you already said...not to mention the guy is busy busy busy with work and production and I'm sure he's puting his reputation on the line as well when he's working with just a random guy. I personally saw Tiesto pick up lots of demos and CDRs that people give him during shows, hell he even took mine once :D I'm sure that if he finds something worth his time he'll do it - Vadim Zukov for example...that new Russian kid that's bursting out everywhere...but it's not like Tiesto or PVD themselves got a break from people...it's a really tough business and you gotta catch your breaks -- noone will give them to you just like that and it's really pointless making someone feel guilty about the fact that you bought their music over the past years  |

meh, i think its pure bull. Look at guys like hernan, luke fair, skylark, scum frog, max graham etc. They all received help from big name Djs/producers.
These guys have their mailbox full of on a constant basis, u expect them to remix everyone?
in the end, if u have talent, you will receive recognition. if you dont, you will receive letters such as the one above :P |
