Hello,
I am looking for comments on my debut release under my new project name Perfect Planet. The track's called 'Dreaming Of The Stars' and this is the radio edit. It's fairly commercial trance in style, so might not appeal to those of you on here who don't like your 'cheese' - but please take a listen anyway!
Click on this link, then right click the link on that page and select 'save target as' or similar to listen:

Ps. I'm looking for people to remix it, so if anyone's interested, please give me a shout. I'm afraid I can't offer too much in return, but would love to do a remix of someone elses track in return maybe?

Perfect Planet is the brand new project of Daniel Flower. Featuring bubbling bass lines, tinkling undertones, and euphoric synths, these are songs that will make you want to dance.
Perfect Planet's style fits into the genre of 'Commercial Trance', appealing to a wide audience whilst capturing the emotions of listeners.
Daniel Flower is the producer behind the project. Aged 16, he is an up-and-coming producer who is gathering experience all the time.
"I like to try out new sounds as often as I can whilst always trying to make my music catchy and hopefully euphoric for listeners. I believe in music that simplicity is the key to a good sound."
Dan is influenced by the likes of Ian Van Dahl, Darren Tate/Jurgen Vries and 4 Strings amongst other artists.
"I fell in love with the euro-trance sound at an early age. To me, it was different than other genres of music. I really felt emotions whilst listening to trance, it's all about the power of the music. Ever since then, I have always wanted to create music like this."
Dan's studio is of basic setup, consisting only of an Evolution MK-225C midi keyboard, FL Studio music production software, and a few software synths, proving that you don't need an expensive studio to create a good sound.
Why the name Perfect Planet?
Kind of being sarcastic really because our planet is far less than perfect! Music helps you to escape it...
Do you play live?
No, though I would like to when I get the opportunity.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It enables smaller artists to release music to a much wider audience than was previously possible, and allows fans to discover new artists that they wouldn't of otherwise found.
Would you still sign a record contract with a major label?
Errr.... yes!!!
Your influences?
Ian Van Dahl, Jurgen Vries / Darren Tate, 4 Strings, Divine Inspiration, PUSH / M.I.K.E., Kontakt, Paul Van Dyk, Endre
Equipment used:
Evolution MK-225C Midi Keyboard
FL Studio Software
Various Software Synths |

Damn.. haven't time to read all your presentation.
About the track....
Well,I'll be honest.Your track needs A LOT of work!:whip:
The same melody during 3 mins (if we call this melody) :nervous:
Instruments are too simple !:nervous:
Mixing and mastering suck both...
Now,something I can advise you, is comparing your tune with professional ones. Compare it by skeeping in the playlist from your track to another one. You'll see the difference! Then try to understand what's wrong with your track. But it will not be easy at all! Just continue to produce and always compare it with your favourite trance productions from big artists.
Good luck ! |

| Well its a good start, but is there any more to the song? There's only one bit, played over. Commercial cheese has more cheese, this is like a cheese slice. |

Hmm.... abit big for our britches are we??, not like Im any better but you could stand to tone it down a bit, on other forums thats just like asking for pissy responses.. (not trying to be bitch just tryin to help out.)
What I would work on is the kick and bass.. (In fact its what Ive been doing.) I've been doing what fractal said for a while (the comparing thing) and I think I decided that one of the biggest differences between pro sounding and not, is simply the kick and lower ends: aka Bass. I was just checking out Dave Pl's track, the one he just posted here (ing amazing by the way), and was like ... thats one hell of a kick, even on cheapo headphones. Cause once you got a rad kick and bass, (which is not easy by anymeans.. I cant do it well yet) than throw some nice pads over it and if the kick and bass is solid,, youll be like yeah!!!!!! heh. (by the way this doesnt mean that the rest is simple, but if you dont have Kick and bass you aint got ) anyways, I am listening on crap headphones so maybe Im wrong bout the kick and bass on your track but I think its a good general rule.. By the way though,, there are alot of people who can throw together one in rad kick and bass, but dont got any feeling for the rest. What I mean is really good production skills, but no heart and soul....
anyways I think I said the "K" and "B" words way to many times and Im tired and neeed to work on my own damn kick and bass...
Anyways good luck bro, the slice of American rubber cheese will eventually turn into brie with lots of god damn hard work... I hope anyways cause Im still like cheapo chedder thats wants to be fancy but cant, but doesnt give up and hopefully will eventually show all the other cheeses in the store (aaahem the trance addict forum:)) that he's good too. or just do like 5 shots of whiskey, than all your music sounds so ing good you start wondering why the you arnt signed.. ;). can you tell its 2 in the morning?
Anyways enough blabbering, hope its helpful
Peace and Love

:o Yeah sorry about the spin but I was in one of them rambling moods.... :o
Thanks for all the comments anyway, I'll work on it. I've combined the kick with a low crashing sound at the same time and I thought it sounded kind of punchy?
Btw how do I improve my mastering, are there any secrets to it lol? |

Alright mate, with regards to mastering check this thread in the production studio here.
That forum is also a great resource for searching through, and I've found there's a load of very clever people in there to answer your questions too :)
Good luck |

Ha ha lol! Thanks for your comments. I know a vocalist so maybe...
I really don't get this though, some say quality, others say its good quality. a well, there ya go.
Anyway I've been working a lot on trying to create a more punchy kick. So far, I've found that what really helps is to put a hit hat sound on top of the kick, making the hit hat sound much lower in volume than the kick sound, and at a lower octave than the kick sound. Doing this seems to make it 100% more punchy and generally create the sound that I was looking for. |
