k lemme start out by saying I know absolutely nothing about DJing... So how hard is it to learn? Do you watch videos or do u get lessons or what? I barely even know any of the terms and im on a limited budget (im 16...).

I went to guitarcenter and looked at some of their stuff. The guy there suggested I get to Numark Axis 9's with a behringer vx700 for $975. Looked nice, but Thats really expensive. I know Guitarcenter also offers TT-200 (vinyl) for $199 which would be cheaper than $399 each for Axis 9's. I've heard Behringer VX300 is good to start off with.. So what is the best for starting off and on a budget Cd's, or vinyl? I know nothing And what is good equipment to get.

Oh yea forgot to add at a local music store they were selling a turntable that is new that they could sell.. I think it was American Audio TT-200MK I know it was american audio but can't remember the model #.

first whats your budget??
if you can save up for technics

used Technics mk2s or m3ds would be your best choice for starting on a budget
or
you can pricematch at Guitarcenter and get Mk5s

from there you need to choose cartridges, Shure Whitelabels, Ortofons etc

what kind of music are you gonna play ?
electronica you dont really need a quick crossfader
imo i'd get a pcv 275 about 500$ (i think)
or you could go on a major budget and get that behringer djx 700 about 250$

then you need good headphones... imo sennheiser hd 280 pros...

well thats my quick advice... if you wanna start with good equipment then you're looking at maybe 1200$ or more.. probably.

I second that. Got them on Amazon for 79 bux. Best bang for yer buck.
beats and beeps
the hd 280 pros are great phones, excellent phones, but if i were you i wouldnt worry about getting a pair quite yet.

Use all the money you get to go twords a mixer, and turntables, or digital turntables (cdjs).

Headphones are very important, but if you have a setup you CAN use crappy headphones (like the ones you get with cd players) to mix, until you have the money for better ones. However having a kickass pair of phones with no equipment is just wasting time...

i'd like to keep it under 500 bucks... I know I could upgrade if I got into it... but then again I dont want really ty stuff. I just find it hard to spend 1,000 off the bat for something I don't even know if I will like/be good at/be able to learn you know?

Music will be trance/techno all that good stuff

could someone give me a good starting setup with prices.. I looked at turntables.com or something like that and they had some interesting stuff there. Would it be best to buy online or goto like guitarcenter?

Do yourself a favor, save up and get technics. I've been waiting to spin since before I was 16, but I was patient and waited until I had a lot of cash saved up for techs (I only just bought mine a few months ago, and I just turned 18).

If you're really serious about mixing, lower end decks simply wont cut it. You'll be wanting to upgrade bad, and since you can't really sell lower end turntables for anywhere close to their original price, you're going to be back on square 1.

If you do buy technics and decide you don't want to mix any more, you can sell them for very close to their original price, especially if you've taken good care of them. Be patient and save up.

ok, plain and simple. if your gonna get tables get technics, not because they're soooo much better than the numarks or stantons or whatever, its because the resale value is so ing high. even if u drop 600 on 2 technics, u can still sell them for 600 in another year if you don't like spinning. heck i got 2 1200-m3d's for 550. add another 200-300 dollar mixer that's 800-900. remember, there's a special friend called ebay
