the thing with that is places like ipod have sites where you download legal mp3s...i'm sure that they have to kick back something to the record companies for allowing them to have their materials for download. |

Actually what I've heard (think I read it on Yahoo news once) is that record sales are going up since filesharing came around.
I'm for it, because I, like Davinox, am a greedy bastard. |

that legal source is made for backup.
if anyone wants to sue ipod with the charges: support of mp3 piracy, they can say we made it because we provide legal mp3. |

+ It makes it a lot easier for people to discover new music and find new artists.
- A lot of artists doesn't get the money they deserve. |

Wrong. I remember recently reading quite a few articles that said that the RIAA, while falsely stating they were losing money, were actually gaining money.
Oh, and artists only get a very, very slim amount of the revenue put out by CDs.
Anywho, here's my view:
I support it. I think that music is something that is made for people to enjoy. I like the idea of being able to download any song I want, whenever I want, and listen to it whenever I want.
I do not like the idea that, because the RIAA is afraid of losing money, they make up false claims about losing revenue, prompting them to go around and, without looking into it too much, ending up suing 12 year-old girls and 80 year-old grandparents. I do not like purchasing a CD for $20-$25, only to enjoy two songs off of it (though I do have a sizeable legal CD collection).
Basically, I'm very much anti-RIAA, pro file-sharing. |

Edit: Since people said the original post was too long
here is the short version
-Mp3 Groups are hurting the scene
-People who don't see deejays, don't buy vinyl or CDs should be shot, they are a waste to the scene
-Labels are struggling to survive
-It is not our mp3, we did not get the permission to download it, we did not buy it, it's not our work
-hence piracy is hurting the industry imo |
