Question: Why do we have to support the artists that are commercial? I think we should support artists that we like.
Seriously, people really have to stop worrying about what they listen to. Agree with Wraith and some of the other posters. When I started trance, I listened to a bunch of cheese. Without it, I probably wouldn't have discovered Tiesto, PVD, Ferry, Armin, etc. I still listen to some cheese (some are good too), so just be yourself and don't let others decide what you should listen to. |

U KNOW WHAT I CAN'T UNDERSTAND!!!
I posted a thread about what the definitoin of commercial and underground is.......
It turned out to be kinda inconclusive. SOme poepel think underground means local DJs etc. WHilst Commercial means big, reknowned DJs liek Tiesto.... I used to think that commercial and underground was the way u guy stated... now I have no IDea. EVeryone has a differnt definition of this....
DOES ANYONE KNWO WHAT COMMERCIAL AND UNDERGROUND ACTUALLY MEANS???
LOOK AROUND U GUYS!!! THE 1999 FORMAT IS COMIGN BACK IN... listen around to differnt artists... LOTS OF THEM STICK TO THE 1999 WAY STILL....
2004 and 2005 should be excellent years or trance indeed. |

Instead of classifying music as "commercial" or "underground" I either classfiy music as sh!t or good :whip:.
I dont care if 1 million people like the tune or 1 person likes it. Music is my domain, my experince , and what I like. So this whole commerical vs. underground is just Bull Sh!t. IMO the whole "underground" thing is something someone started to make themselves sound hip and cool and lets not forget exclusive to their friends. Of course there is music people havent heard becuase of distribution channels etc. But to say that all underground or all commercial is good music is just a stupid comment and not worthy of a response.
And no sh!t about little kids liking trance that sounds like pop music( i.e. some women singin about how she is in love ) and older yuppies liking music that makes them think their cool or hip ( i.e. music you would never listen to IF a)you were not in this hip cool ass club b) not surounded by hot girls who seem to like the music c) on drugs d) drunk off your arse)
I would rather prefer a debate on what is commercial vs. what is not. |

no.
actually a definition is easy to find (see below this paragraph), but what people consider as "commercial" or "underground" is very subjective. to simplify, some consider everything as popular or more than dj sammy, ian van dahl & co. to be commercial. others push that limit down and say most uplifting trance and popular dj's such as tiesto, armin, etc are also commercial. my view is that everything is commercial, but to different levels. just listen to what you like and don't get limited by this crap
by definition everything released, every music that is sold is commercial. underground, well, is anything below the ground of earth :clown: |
