Are you a vegetarian? If so, have you ever had any problems because of it? (pg. 2)

Who has voted for the "Other" option???

Can you guys (or girls) explain why?

I've never been a vegetarian, nor would I ever be as I view it as highly unhealthy.

Humans have the anatomy of a carnivore; I think it's pretty obvious what our bodies are optimized for...

From what I understand meat allergies are usually specific to a single type of meat: beef, pork, or chicken most frequently. I've never heard of a case of being allergic to all meat, although I don't doubt that it could happen.

if i became allergic to all meat, i might have to kill myself

I am 19 and have been a vegetarian all my life. I have never had any health problems or anything because of it and I consider myself to be healty. I guess the only down side to this is that my friends every now and then poke fun at me, but this isn't really that big of a deal. :p

I am allergic to red meat. Red meat/beef is the only meat that I cannot eat yet I choose not to eat pork as well.

My housemate is a veggi person.

During the last party, he BBQ himself a carrot and ate it with a bun.

THAT'S NOT A WAY TO LIVE!!!

p.s. Now that I think about it, I have not ate any Vegtables during the whole summer (3 months). Been eating EGGS tho. Cooking blows.

I've been through some awkward situations because I'm a vegetarian.

Once a friend (who had a bad temper anyway) started to argue with me because I didn't eat meat (he thought it was impossible), went frenzy and actually managed to turn it into an ugly discussion to the point I had to drift away after that (although his threats of putting tiny coloured bits of meat in my food were rather funny :p). My other friends are fine with it though - they toast potatoes whenever there's a barbecue just to mock me :D

It's also somewhat embarassing when people are not used to vegetarians and, although you're eating a lot of stuff, they become excessively worried about you not eating meat, no matter how much you say it's alright.

Maybe I'm just a bit sad because I travelled with my friends to the country, and the hostess (we were in a friend's house) made a tiny drama because of me not eating meat.

That's what I used to think aswell till the day I realised that, the painful skin problem I had was due to eating meat. I didn't know what the cause was, and one day this Hindu man came to me and asked whether I had burned my face (yes, it looked THAT bad). I said "no". He then said, "stop eating any sort of meat and you'll get better". I didn't pay attention (and there was also a French hippie who had told me that, although I just ignored him), but everytime I would eat more salad, pasta and noodles (my favourite food), my skin would get better. Everytime I got back to meat, my face would get worse again (I reckon it must be either the fat or the hormones...). Since I don't miss meat, and I drink a reasonable amount of milk (and I eat eggs and tofu), let's give that guy a credit. At least I'm able to sleep without bleeding in my pillow now.

That sounds terrible. Have you talked to anybody else other than Indian guy and a French hippy? A doctor perhaps? Overall tho, I'd rather eat Soy Hotdogs than than bleed in my pillow. I doubt that my g/f will understand such issues.
