Guest Mix by: Jon O'Bir (Godskitchen, UK)

A lot can happen in 12 months, for Jon O’Bir, 2002 started off with him mixing in his bedroom like thousands of others dreaming of the big time, but as the hours counted down to 2003 his dream had come true and he was warming up the Godskitchen crowd for Fergie.

It all started back in September 2002, when he entered along with 300 other hopeful djs, the PaSSion and M8 magazine competition and won. He was then offered the chance to play for Motion in Derby and also to show off his talents on the internet radio station, bpm. With his style of progressive/uplifting trance and expertly blended mixes, he was soon noticed by Godskitchen, who were looking for a new young DJ to offer a residency and the prospect of fledging career as Britain's next DJ sensation.

"It is quite literally unbelievable, I’ve loved mixing since I brought my first set of decks two years ago and now I get to do it in clubs all over the country to thousands of people"

When Fergie heard all the interest in Jon he asked him to join him on his Radio 1 show. His half hour set, live all around the world went down a storm and Fergie was astounded by his support via emails and message boards and envisaged big things for Jon. Fergie has been right behind Jon and recently included him in his ‘Fergies Fledglings’ feature on his radio 1 website.

He has already established a big following in the very short space of time he has been playing and is becoming well known for playing trance productions by unsigned producers.

2003 is looking exciting for Jon, with the residency at Godskitchen, and with others chasing him like inside out, Passion, colours and frisky to name but a few and a mix on Irelands 2fm radio station, its going to be one busy year.

“This is how trance is meant to be: beautiful bosh that takes you to another place” Mixmag feature February 2003.

Guest Mix by: DJ Danjo & Rob Styles (ID&T, NL)

Rob Styles (Robbert Vroegindeweij) was born on the 5th of february, 1980 in Rotterdam - The Netherlands. At the age of 14, he first gets to know the principles of producing music. It all starts with a 4-channel mod tracker. Despite of the poor sound quality and limited possibilities, producing music really steals his heart.

Some time passes, the equipment gets better, the quality of productions is increasing. In 1996, at the age of 16, Rob sends a demo with some of his productions to the record company Hotmusic in Rotterdam. The response couldn’t be better: within two days, his first record deal is a fact. During the following three years, the first steps into the music business are made.

At Hotmusic, Rob releases various records on the labels of Stealth and Haunted House, under the names of Kynthos, Robbert V and Upstream. The Kynthos release becomes successful in Greece, Upstream – Eggplant Adventures is placed on Arcade’s Trance Top 100. Rob teams up with DJ Quinten de Rozario (who’s performing very well with Jessie K at this moment) resulting in lots of fun - and a release from the ‘Wise Grrrls’. In this Hotmusic period, Rob also does a few remixes, among which a track called Atomic Playboy, a track originally produced by Wessel van Diepen.

In the years that follow, Rob finishes high school and starts his study of Industrial Design Engineering at the University of Technology in Delft. This is where he meets Danjo Raijer (DJ Danjo) in the summer of 1998. Soon, Rob and Danjo start producing together. Quite a few months later this results in a demo CD, which is presented to the well-known company BPM Dance, in november 2000.

In the end of 2000, Rob is contracted by BPM Dance. At BPM, things really get rolling. Together with DJ Danjo, Rob releases several 12-inches. DJ Danjo & Rob Styles - Witness (also remixed by Katana) is released on Trilamb, shortly followed by Anticipating / State of Thrust on the famous Silver Premium label. Also a fabulous DJ Danjo & Rob Styles remix of Jas van Houten’s Heaven’s Gate conquers the stores. All tracks even climb the dutch dance charts!

When BPM Dance quitted releasing in 2003, negotiations with two other record companies started, both resulting in a succesful deal. New DJ Danjo & Rob Styles releases were signed to a new company, Armada Music, founded by Armin van Buuren, Maykel Piron and David Lewis - and bombing the trance scene with excellent quality releases from the very beginning!

At the same time, in Belgium, a new trance project was given birth: Danjo & Rob signed to BansheeWorx (formerly known as Bonzai Records) and started a project called 'Primer', with an excellent first release: Indulge / The Silver Lining.

The Danjo & Styles productions are supported by some of the world’s top DJs. They can be found on the playlists of DJ Tiesto, Armin van Buuren, Marco V, Signum, Katana, DJ Joop, Mark Norman, Cor Fijneman, DJ Astrid, George Acosta, The Freak, Alex M.O.R.P.H and many, many others.

Danjo Raijer is a 24 year old Dutch DJ / Producer from Rotterdam, who has been doing his thing on the turntables since 1994 and producing since 1997.

As a producer Danjo first did some tracks for compilation cd's together with the guys from Dance Nation (“Sunshine”, “Dance”) at Noculan Music.

In the summer of 1998 Danjo met Robbert Vroegindeweij (Rob Styles) at University and they soon found out that they shared the same musical interests. Because Rob was also busy making music, they decided to team up in the studio.

In the year 2000 they were contracted by BPM Dance, where they worked together with artists like Katana, Signum and Mark Norman. At BPM Dance they released several tech-trance bombs (like "Witness" and "Anticipating").

In 2003, DJ Danjo & Rob Styles signed to Armin van Buuren’s Armada Music, where they released their long awaited bomb "Aragon" on the well known Captivating Sounds imprint. The support for this track was enormous and the follow up is ready to cause even more dance floor damage…

In the second half of 2003, Danjo & Styles got in touch with Yves Deruyter, who appreciated their work a lot. At his invitation, they got in contact with Bonzai Music, re-born as Banshee Worx, where their new project "Primer" was born. The first "Primer"- release is a huge double header on the Progrez imprint, featuring the tracks "Indulge" and "The Silver Lining". Expect beautiful trance melodies combined with the hard-edge twist Danjo & Styles are known for!

Now, in 2004 they also hooked up with ID&T Music, who are going to release DJ Danjo & Rob Styles’ newest… “Duende”, backed with a stunning Signum remix!

The DJ Danjo & Rob Styles / Primer productions have gained support from many of the world’s top DJ’s. They can be found on the playlists of DJ Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, Judge Jules, Ferry Corsten, Marco V, Johan Gielen, Matt Darey, Lange, Signum, Misja Helsloot, Katana, Mark Norman, Yves Deruyter, Talla 2XLC, DJ Mind-X, Fire, Cor Fijneman, Ton TB, George Acosta, The Freak, Alex M.O.R.P.H, Green Court, John "00" Flemming, John Askew, M.I.K.E, Neo & Farina, Markus Schulz, Tony Burt, Stigma, Jon O'Bir, Blank & Jones, Guy Ornadel, Jean and many others!

As a producer Danjo's respect goes out to: Timo Maas, Roland Klinkenberg, James Holden, Katana, Signum, Mark Norman, Mac Zimms, Marco V., Tiësto, Lemon 8, Tim J, Ron Matser, Nic Vegter, Mirko van Dommelen, Piet Bervoets, Ton TB, Olav Basoski, Silvio Ecomo, Dennis M, Airwave, M.I.K.E., Gabriel & Dresden, Erik de Koning, Filterheadz, Paul Moelands, Perry O'Neil and Jeroen Verheij.
