This movie sucked, plain and simple. I understand what Shylaman is trying to say (living in a world of fear post september 11th...irony, because they use fear to keep their society intact, bla bla), but it just falls flat. This movie was marketed as a horror/thriller unfortunately, and we get precious little of that.
It's a movie that is very disrespectful to its viewers. I want my 10 bucks back. |

ok i saw the movie last nite and fromt he very beginning i knew the creatures had to be fakes though i at first thought they were just bandits living in the forest or something who would come in to terrorize these moronic folk who lived sheltered lives in a village in seemingly the 1890s which is another problem i had -- why would they bother to change dates if their children would never know the diff? im jewish and the jewish calendar tells us that the year is 5764....does that mean that all jews have advanced technology from 3000 years in the future over the rest of society living in 2003? no! that is ridiculous! a date is subjective it doesnt really mean anything its just a human invention to count time in a grander scale than a clocks hours minutes and seconds....so why did they bother making up fake years (except for the obvious m night shyamalan's need to fool the audience as to the year)
also why couldnt the village leader guy explain to ivy that the thing she couldnt see was a costume of the 'things that are not named' and that they were fake? this whole movie was trying way too hard for dramatic effect
m night shyamalan should have quit while he was ahead after the sixth sense, i never saw unbreakable but signs was mad cheeeeeezy!

I saw it and I think there's a whole lot of messages being said and lost all it once.
While the acting was good I was expecting something different from MKS and different is what I got.
A question I have though, why hide from the world in a pewter dish society?
While 'the man' (Walker) obviously had the money to do it (hell he could alter airplane routes; see camo from MKS) hiding doesn't really solve anything. There's no progression from hiding, yet the elders voted to continue.
Just a little confused about that. I guess they though they had a good thing going? I suppose in some small way they did but look what they had to go through just to save someone's life...
I think that message of sheltering from the world is wrong.
Life is not about hiding it's about connecting, interacting, learning, sharing and understanding.
If there was some other message, he lost me...

| I saw this movie... it blew pretty bad. My suggestion is to watch the trailer 7 or 8 times its much better :p |

What a dumb movie. There were plot holes, a lame twist ending, and no boobies. I would have settled for monster boobies.
M Knight ShamaLameMovie should put more effort into making a good movie, instead of trying to fool everyone with a twist ending every time. |

| i'm with a mojority of all u guys meaning i want my money back. I haven't been this disapointed since hell boy. And the part i really didn't get at all was when the slow guy that stabbed whats his face was in the forest chase'n that girl, why did he sound like an f#ck'n monster for??...grunted and what not. and then it shows his face lay'n on the ground in the hole??...i dunno, i think he night try'd waaaay to hard on this one. And i agree that they marketed this movie to be a "horror" movie, that lead to a lot of disappointed people. |

The retard was locked up near the end for having stabbed joaquin's character, but somehow he got out. In fact if you looked really closely, the blind chick's dad that locked him up only put the lock over the hole and didn't actually close the lock from which can be surmised that some kid passing by heard the retard's whining, came to see what was up, and was coerced into letting him out, at which point he most likely decided to put on the red suit and frolick in the woods some more like the retard he is.
As to why he grunted, any guy can grunt right? In fact it would probably come especially easy to a retard. So he was just playing his character.
And then of course at the end when you see his face, its the final confirmation (if the security guard left any doubt), that there were never any monsters, and most importantly that this wasn't the deliciously spooky/thriller/supernatural type movie it was marketed to be - grrrr. |
