omg! wtf my trip is coming to an end!
well that was a quick 2 months .. it only seems like yesterday that i first arrived here in London and was on my way to a crazy summer. crazy cannot even begin to describe it actually..
anyhow, i'm not gonna bother posting a huge ass review of my entire trip right now. (i've got a lotta last minute shopping to do here in this crazy expensive town and some friends to meetup with as well). That being said, here's a quick update of what's happened since i last posted one of these which was in Germany i believe..
I left Wurzburg for Berlin around the 7th of July. Berlin was a big stop for me since it's where a lot of us who were travelling Europe this year planned on meeting up specifically for the Love Parade. there i stayed with Carlos, Corrine, Nicole, Chris, and Jason (Mobius, LiL_kandi_Angel, Marshmallow, Kurfew, and Cono_Sur respectively).
the place was stayed at was totally mint. it looked more like a high end condo/loft than a hostel. each room had its own TV and the living room - yes living room had a big screen TV and DVD played as well. it was nice dining over lamb and red wine while listening to TIesto call in on PVD's radio show Fritz - definately a memorable moment for us all.
this weekend was amazingly enjoyable as we met a lot of people and made many new friends. walking tours and self-exploration, as well as a pub crawl was just the beginning of a crazy weekend there. the week culminated with Love from Above and the Love Parade (yes there was still a Parade). we enjoyed the company of Bryan (pettiscool) and Maria (hysterie) who came over to our pimp pad before the 8 of us left for the Parade that day. we met a lot of people there, locals, other travellers as well as many TAs from around the whole many who i would see again this weekend in London for Godskitchen Global Gathering.
After Berlin, most of us said our goodbyes and headed for our own destinations. some of us who were a bit more unfortuante like Jason had to head back home. Berlin would be no less than memorable to us all. but we had to move on and i was looking forward to my next stop: Prague.
Prague is a pretty amazing city. what's even more amazing is the exchange rate.. 25 kronas for every CDN dollar. if you don't know what that gets you let me give u a little idea..
one night, myself and 2 other friends went out for some food and drinks... the bill for 17 pints, 3 small beers, 3 entrees, 2 appetizers came to 900 krona which is about 45 CDN between 3 people.. yes 3 people!!! it was so hard to believe that we had to take a picture of the receipt just as a momento which i'll be posting sometime in my actual trip review.
partywise, Prague is truly an amazing town, it was fun yadda yadda yadda which i'll get into all the fine details when i post my full review. unfortunately, a trip is not without its mishaps. it was here that i had my day pack stolen from my hostel room - long story. anyhow, the casualty report includes: my notes and journals, camera charger and cell phone charger, and all my photo CDs for Berlin and the Love Parade. yeah i know super bummer but what can u do sometimes.. i refused to let such a thing ruin the rest of my vacation so i was more than eager to get onto my next destination after spending a weekend in Prague.
Vienna was interesting .. but not worth mentioning right now so i'll move onto my next stop which is Venice. Venice was a truly amazing city. by far the most unique city that i had visited all over Europe. may i suggest coming here if ur ever looking for a place for a honeymoon .. forget Paris. getting to know the locals here was half the fun as well .. make sure that u all try Spritz.. it's a local drink from the Venetto region of Italy which you won't find anywhere else. again more gritty details of this city to come later.
Rome was my final stop in continental Europe before returning back to London. this city obviously needs no introduction.. we're talking about the center of civilization for almost 1000 years and to this day the global center of ginoism lol! mind u ginoism here is far different than it is back home. Italians are amazing friendly people and their women are even more amazing ;)
partying and sightseeing in Rome was really fun as u'll soon see when i get a chance to post my pics. 2 pub crawls in 3 nights was pure debauchery and a necessary evil despite the fact that one crawl came on the night before the day i had to check out of my hostel hehe ..
i now find myself back in London and in serious missing of some Soutern European culture. Noneless fun has been had here. 2 nights ago I attended Godskitchen Global Gathering .. my 4th massive in Europe in the last 2 months (the other included Sonar Festival 2004 in Barcelona, Sensation White in Amsterdam, and Love Parade in Berlin). GKGG capped off a totally awesome summer with the most amazing parties one could attend. This event featured about 50,000 ?!? parties in an airfield that was converted into a makeshift amusement park. each stage was massive, the smallest one being about the size of the Koolhaus with partiers going all out into the night.
just to give u an idea about what a night at GKGG is kinda like let me give u a brief example of mine..
showed up around 7pm and walked around for a bit, also had to wait quite a while to pick up my tickets at the credit card booth. walked into the mainstage with the sounds of Armin Van Buuren - briefly walk out to the Bedrock stage to catch a bit of Sasha & Digweed, decided to stay for the end of Armin's set only to hear Tiesto afterwards. A bit of techinical problems in the arena during Tiesto forces us into the Global tent to catch a bit of Carl Cox. a return to the mainstage features PVD right after Tiesto.. and yes to commit blasphemy we leave the mainstage during PVD's set to hear a bit of Adam Freeland in the breaks stage. from there we take a quick journey over to the Accelerated Culture tent where Mampi Swift is just finishing his set before Dieselboy comes on. After a bit of the Philly native we move back to the Bedrock stage were Danny Howells is putting on an ecceletic show of his own. we eventually head over back to the mainstage to hear Ferry Corten dropping none only than Punk as 30,000 people inside sing along to the beat. Ferry finishes up followed by Fergie who goes insane on the decks and starts throwing vinyl into the crowd and setting off fire extinguishers. Fergie pretty much ripped everyone a new giving way to Judge Jules who finished the night off.
all in all i witnessed about all the talent i have in the last 5 years within something like 5 hours !? truly insane and an unbelieveable party.. again more gritty details to come!
so yeah after sleeping for the last 19 hours i'm posting this quick update but not for long. it's presently 10:25 am right now here in London and i have tons of last minute shopping to do as well as a date & dinner with someone later tonight .. ;)
so sadly all good things must come to an end.. but i see this more as Act 1 of a really long ass play .. :D
see all ya cats soon back in the Tsnot!

oh yeah .. Friday night at Turnmills with Armin Van Buuren, Markus Schulz, and John Askew was pretty cool too .. minus the pushing and shoving in the crowd!
