My review of Garage Afterhours

We headed out to the middle of ing nowhere around 3am Saturday night for Sean to DJ at Garage Afterhours. After our cab getting lost in St-Hubert and finding ourselves in the middle of a dark forest highway, we turned around and finally found our way there. Whew, no wonder I never venture off the island...

When we walked in, we were in the hiphop room, which had quite a few people in it, and we were surprised to see an above ground pool! Kinda cool idea, but isn't that just asking for messed up people to die? Dunno, maybe that's just me. The next thing we noticed was the heat and humidity. MAN, it was disgusting in there. I was starting to rethink my evaluation of the pool.. It was probably 100% humidity in there and it certainly wasn't packed, not even half full. Do they have ventilation? If so, it certainly wasn't on that night.

We found the room where Wizz, Voiz and Sean were spinning and were disappointed to see about 6 people in the whole place, which was much bigger than the hiphop room. It was also even hotter in there than the front room. Although the room did pick up a little bit, I think the top amount of people in the room was around 20. Wizz, Voiz and Sean put on great sets, however, and it was a shame that we weren't sweating our asses off or we would've danced for more than 5 minutes.

In conclusion, I'd say that Garage has a lot of good ideas and the place could be great if it wasn't a) in the middle of nowhere, b) disgustingly hot. The sound was pretty good, but not amazing, the extras like the cars and the car seats against the walls, and the pool were neat. The place is just too huge for somewhere so far from everything. Even with 2000 people, the trance room wouldn't have been full.
