Ah, a question I appreciate.
Brian Transeau is a sonic explorer... he cuts a path through the wild jungles of sound and makes each genre his own as he comes across it. To my knowledge, he has not really gotten into hard house and minimal techno and melodic gabba but in his career, he has done things including (but not limited to):
-trance, earlier called "epic house" or "progressive house", from the roots of IMA to present-day tunes like "Force of Gravity". "Flaming June" is of course a standout, and many producers today still cite IMA as a foundation of what was to come in the years to follow.
-film soundtracks, as mentioned, as well as video game soundtracks. Under Suspicion is a movie score he did, and he also worked on Fast and the Furious, and more recently, Monster.
-prog breakbeat/nu skool breaks/whatever you wanna call it breaks like his collab with Tsunami One entitled "Hip-Hop Phenomenon", and the standout on Sasha's GU013 known as "Fibonacci Sequence".
-rocky pop tunes. Not only has he worked with Britney Spears, but N*Sync as well, and he has remixed Madonna. On his own accord, he knows how to put a guitar-based song like "Animals" together which is nothing less than a masterpiece to me.
-ethnic world fusion, such as the "covered" Re:Verb project with Sasha and his work with Peter Gabriel.
-even drum 'n' bass, for example "Road To Lostwithiel" and "Memories In A Sea Of Consciousness"
In the end, it's BT music. And that's the wonderful thing about his diversity. You go through one of his albums and every track is a standout in its own way, yet such a variety. He takes something from foreign shores like exotic spices, and makes it his own in the musical recipes he cooks up in his lab. :D |

Completely off topic...
Torley...I bumped into you on Max's board (welcome :D) and of course I see you post on here a lot. You seem to be quite eccentric. Your posts are almost always positive, polite, and well thought out. I would rather read your posts than over 50% of the posts I see on TA. I could have sent this to you through a PM, but I figured there are probably a lot of other people on TA that feel the same way and they wouldn't mind me pointing it out through a post on here. ;) |

Why thank you, Amber the trancebrat. That made me smile :) Yes, I am eccentric... I am autistic so I have can have great difficulty communicating casually, which is one reason why I like music -- it gives me another language to express through. But since we're on here and using words, I'm learning... life's really too short and it's good to be fun.
Conflict may be a necessary part of life but there's enough pain and suffering in the world and I appreciate positivity... heck, I still hug my PLUR(R), as archaic as it may seem ;)

What I like about you is your ability or willingness to see the positive aspect of things. Too many people think it is "cool" to be rude and nasty. They post garbage about artists they don't like and pollute TA with their nonsense. It's a given that COR is a dumping ground, but sometimes I think people don't realize how horrible the MD forum can be at times with all the negative posts. I think you communicate better than most people on TA. You express your thoughts and opinions logically and fairly. If you don't like something you say it with tact. If more people were like you I think artists would be more inclined to visit TA. ;)
I am in a good mood today. Just in case anyone is wondering where this is all coming from. :p |

Movement In Still Life (1999): Progressive Trance, Breaktrance, Poptronica
Emotional Technology (2003): Poptronica, Epic Trance |
