the tracklist looks pretty good but i agree its too cramped
there will only be like 3 min of each song and blank and jones may be good producers and there music selection is good but their mixing is terrable so thie tracklist looks great but the mixing will be y :( |

16 tracks per CD (count not the short intro on CD 1) on a 80 minute mix is 5 minutes per track. Normal trance track has 6 to 8 minutes, count the 1 till 1 1/2 minutes intro / build up and outro / build down out of each track as it is a pumping forwarding mix, think it's a perfect mix! A mix Cd is no live set, you hear it at home or in your car, you are mostly not dancing to it, so it should also not get boring with a 5 minute mix to the next track! |

I don't think so. If you look at many really good mix CDs, they tend to have only 12 or 13 songs on each CD. Check out Gatecrasher Resident Transmission as a random example. Practically all 6 CDs (there's RT 1 and RT 2) have only 12 or 13 songs on each, and yet for the most part they all last for about 70 minutes or so. Clearly, this allows us to hear the songs in their entirety, yet the songs are still mixed together quite smoothly (i.e. no sixteen beat intro/outro mixing). Therefore, unless the DJs are specifically selecting songs that are long, I would think that the average trance song length is perhaps a bit longer than you indicate. At least that's how it seems to come out when you look at a lot of quality mix CDs. Furthermore, if there's even just one or two songs that come out to seven or eight minutes, that means that another song has to be mixed in to last only two or three - and for most trance CDs that's not quite so optimal. Just my view on things. The point is that I agree with those who said that there are way too many songs crammed on each B&J cd.
*edit* To be fair, however, I did enjoy the Cream Future Trance 2003 cds, and those had about the same number of songs (16-17 I think), so I might just have to wait and see. My general principle, though, is that past 13 songs it starts getting a bit cramped. |

I agree with A couple of peoples views, to many tracks on one CD.
Why didnt thay split the tracks up into 10 or 11 tracks each and have 3 CD's. I think it will be more sell-able to the public this way.
Take Ben Lost's new album for example, 11 tracks on each CD. This way You can listen to ever track in detail. The new creamfields cd mixed by oakey is another good example. |
