| Lightning mostly doesnt "strike" anywhere. Its usually cloud to cloud. In that rare case, though, youd have to define which part of the bolt causes the thunder, and the answer to that is the whole thing. So then what part of the bolt do you want to know how far youre away from? ;) 300 meters up? 500 meters up? You can use Pathags for that certain location but whats the point? :p |

Umm, sound can't travel through a vacuum, so in a vacuum the speed of sound is zero! But you're right that the speed of sound is variable - factors such as the air density and temperature make a difference, but probably much less than 10 % most the time. |

i think its 273 + Deg Celcius, so at like 27 degrees, speed of sound is 300m/s... |

don't ask me how i know this
get a small radio, tue it to any channel, works best on SW or LW, and if it suddenly gets all staticy, hit the ground. |

No joke you can get zapped real good with a CB, even in a car. They get all staticy and then bam! Fried. When we're chasing we have to be real careful...
