i hate this! i have some cd's that are recorded with low volume. its hard with a vmx300 to make a transition between a track with low volume and a track with normal volume. for the low volume cd, if u put ur gain to full and all the eq's to full with the vmx 300, the sound does not pik up alot. yesterday i was mixing a perfect set for about 40 minutes, after that when i wanted to play a cd with low volume, the entire mix got fuked up bcuz of the sound, and when i heard it after it was trainwrecked! why cant they just record all cd's at the same volume level?

now i have to start all over just bcuz of one stupid error.

p.s. i cant afford to buy another mixer

Bad gain sructure
Match your levels, and always leave headroom in your gain structure.

Think about it- if you have your gains set very high, you get a cd you want to play with low pressing volume and you have no gain left to boost.
You have answered your own question there.

I try and keep the gains about 12 o clock- or just peaking with a flash into the red every now and then.Leaves plenty of headroom should you get a quiet track.

Try it.

p,s- full eq boost on all frequencies will not sound too good
