just a quick question...
If I save the effects of a compressor to a kick.. will it sound the same as it does if I were to have it be compressed in real time in my sequencer?
I'm not sure of this becuase I know that compressors tend to adjust the level of the sound it is working to compensate for the other elements of the mix.. |

| as long as you don't use sidechains it doesn't care if you compress it external or real-time |

it depends. if the kick which is compressed in realtime hits again before the release of the compressor ends it will not sound the same - for example, it will sound differently during drum rolls. it will not compensate for other elements in the mix if it is compressed alone. |
