The one thing that totally ruins my mixing is Cocaine. It completly kills off your musical receptors. FACT.

He he, I hear you... but usually you find that getting nutted only makes ones sets more interesting to oneself. ;)

More a case of overly nutted, but yes your right. When I do afterparties in my house I find myself palying Kylie Records and everything when it gets to that 8am messy stage!!

I think any drug, alcohol included, impairs your ability to mix well. I know for some people they can't mix without a drink or two, but as for others it probably does more harm than good to do anything while on the influence of alcohol. :stongue:

I've mixed while rolling and on the influence of a couple other things (extreme case), and let me say I wasn't too accurate with beatmatching and transitioning.

getting a blow job.. :eyes:

don't you hate it when you're just getting ready to lay a fat transition down and your girl won't let you go?

pEy :haha:

1. Being tired
2. Being hungry from not eating in a while or all day
3. Records that skip a lot and environments that make your needles skip a lot can get really annoying and distracting

Sometimes it helps to have a little bit of caffeine, but too much can make you jittery, so don't drink 10 cups of coffee before you start spinning :D
Shudder
mostly not in the mood of feeling the vibe. i've only mixed to my wall and not to an audience so i can't say much. i 've tried mixing on an empty stomach, it was mediocre.

when the phone rings i ignore it and dont care who it is especially if i'm in the middle of a transition.

I have to disagree about the heat thing, sound travels better in warm air and makes everything sound alot better. If heat affects your mixing then your not going to get far as a club DJ..

Funny you should say that, I've played in clubs many times, and I'm never bothered, but I'm not talking it just being hot, I'm talking super hot where your sweaty and sticky, it only happens in my room, I've never been bothered by it in a club, its like theres different types of heat, and the one in my room is the killer, it gets to around 34 celcius in here, but the weird thing about that is, I've been outside on hotter days than that and messed around DJin, and I was fine, it was actually really wicked, being outside and having the sun on your shoulders, and that day was around the mid 30s, sorry I ain't giving these in fahrenheit (SP?) but I got used to the canadian system here, but believe me it easly gets upto around 100 Degrees F here.
beats and beeps

The thing that bothers me most is having a headache. I can't hardly get into the mix and I can't concentrate at all. -- Ryan

Yeah anytime i get interupted when spinning it can take me right out of my "groove". also if i have one bad mix i sometimes will end up in a rut of neverending bad mixes. and then of course the usual, being too tired or too wasted.

Getting interupted.
A skill you will have to learn is to have wide eyed punters of their faces comming up to you and giving you a load of meaningless gibber... Club scenarios are interesting but challenging at the best of times.

Never been bothered by heat.

Cheers

1. Dirty/sweaty/sticky hands
2. Not wearing shoes (seriously)
3. One bad mix.... it has a snowball effect
