A team of superstars can play well together as we saw from Dream Team 1 but that was a different league of guys who were more mature, more unselfish, and a class of legends who perhaps had more experience playing together in various all star games, etc. Not to mention many of them were friends so they knew each other well.
This team should beat all the other teams and definetely IMO has more talent than any other team but if they aren't in sync together then the defense will crumble, passes won't be made, anger and egos will not be put in check, and they will be scrambling to eeek out a win. I hope they do well and im definetely watching them, other than perhaps swimming and track its my favorite event. |

| They lack someone like KG or Jason Kidd who will act as a leader and bring the team together. |

I heard Dream Team 1 played golf all day instead of training at Barcelona 92. :haha:
Any remember that match from the last olympics USA vs Lithuania?
USA only won by 1 or 2 points. Very high scoring as well. |

Actually Tim Duncan and Allen Iverson are leaders who will bring the team together. If you even know their past success, you would know that Duncan lead the Spurs to two championships while a 5'11 guy lead his team all the way to the 2001 finals but two guys named Shaq and Kobe had to stop him there. There isn't suppose to be a leader on the U.S team anyways because they have so many allstar-caliber players that they can win the gold medal without any important factors anyways such as leadership, and chemistry. They don't even need a great coach like Larry Brown. Did you not see the U.S owning Italy 96-71 in only their first game together? My point is proven. |

| The U.S beat some team 78-60, and expect that kind of blowouw to happen for the rest of the games, but all of you who think the U.S won't win gold would live off the loss to Italy which meant nothing. |

Wait, if those important factors needed to win the gold then what do they need? Basketball is a team-sport, so they need to play as a team. Not as 5 individuals. What if some players get defended better than others? I imagine you would say give other players the ball and solve it that way. But that requires chemistry. If your guards are getting some tough D, what are you gonna do? Let a forward lead the game? C'mon.

What does that prove? Italy 'owned' the US 95-78 a couple of days ago. |

Its quite odd, the team they beat was actually Serbia who is the reigning world champs and they beat them by quite a large margin. Its strange how they can lose to such a bad team and then tear apart a strong one. It shows what they are capable of (if they play hard and as as team) i suppose. |

Good win for USA today vs Turkey in front of a different kind of crowd than what theyre used to playing against normaly.
Id like to add that next time USA basketball should try to pick a pure shooter and pure point gaurd into the team, they dont have to be superstars. |

I don't even know why you're disputing that the U.S will easily win the gold. |
