The Age of Political Correctness vs. The Age of Reality.
Which do you live in?
Society has undergone many changes in the past few decades and we have seen extreme measures introduced to make up for previous injustices. For instance Aboriginal people in Australia were given extremely rough treatment and now are given large benefits, quite rightly so I might add, women were dicriminated against and discouraged from joining the work force among many other injustices and for a period were offered much support to change this, and rightly so I might add and it is often said that the way to equal rights is not treating everybody equally.
Political correctness in my opinion has become an outdated total wank. Instead of people saying things how they are, the fear is not to offend people. But in reality, no matter what you do offends someone. They put the tv show 'Queer Eye for the Straight Guy' on television and some people argue that it stereotypes gays, grow up stupids. That show has done wonders for general acceptance of homosexuals.
There is a large line between blatent racism, which is unacceptable; pornagraphy, which I hope even in an extremely conservative viewpoint starts at the point of nakedness; sexist behaviour, which discriminates between the sexes and unfairly targets a certain gender.
It would be interesting to gain a general consensus of where you stand on the issue, and whether the world in which we live in should be one where we walk around on egg shells constantly worried about offending people, like the Janet Jackson nipple saga, which I might point out is the biggest joke I have ever seen in my entire life, and anybody that was offended by that should get a life, or where mature people should get a bit of a thicker skin and grow up.
So where to draw the line?
When is being offended just showing immaturity and that you hold an extreme view?
The days of the student guild member of a university who is also a feminist, environmentalist, animal rights activist, vegan, and alround idiot I think is over. The battles that these stereotypical crusaders are fighting have been over for a long period of time.

| Australian "aboriginals" are originally from southern India. They conquered Australia 50,000 years ago and kicked out the original inhabitants (who now live in New Guinea). Yet now they complain about the white man. :whip: |
