-You can scratch on TTs or some CDJ players such as CDJ-800 or CDJ-1000. But not on the EFX; the jog wheel controls the effect, if that's what you're wondering what it is for.
-You can get it hooked up that way, but you can also hook it if to your send/return aux if your mixer has them (that way you'll be able to apply effects to different channels and not only on the master.
-The EFX hasn't a sampler unfortunately, so no.

On this topic, for other EFX users, I have mine for about a month, I was wondering how do you get the best sound output? 'Cos the manual says to put it just before the red light is lit, but if I do that on both Input and Effects Out Levels, weird stuff happens, such as holding jog wheel effects On and the track's volume decreases or the effect can be barely noticed. How do you have it configured?

Hope I make sense with all this, I'm in a "non-english talking" day lol

connect it on aux, gives you much more freedom to be creative like that.
use delay (3/4), often!
use delay in conjunction with zip!
use jet on hold, and make really suttle or really aggressive movements on the jog!
when mixing (especially in techno), have a delay on 2/1 on both channels, raise one fader, drop it, raise the other, drop it, repeat!

those are my fav tricks

regarding sound output, so long as you have the levels set the same, and it doesn't go into the red it will sound fine.

what you do have to be aware of with effects units, is that different effects cause different feedback levels. this is why you will find using jet, it may sound quiet, yet with fuzz it will be mega loud.

the meter on the right of the unit is the effect level, so when you have switched to that effect always make sure that the levels are.. well err, level :p and the depth is set to where you want it before you do this..

I love my effector. At first, I thought all it did was flanger..one of the dopest effects. But, later on, you release you can acutally do some live looping (using echo) and so really nice fade outs as well as build ups. This machine has great possibilities for people who know how to use it properly. Just experiment with it!!

aye, i sometimes have fun with that, stick the echo on full depth, and cut a little section in (or do a little sc ratch, it doesnt even have to be an amazing scratch lol), it will loop it pretty much forever, and you can effect it with the jog effects. then when you get bored and want to kick a tune back in, spin the time knob to the right, keep spinning unitl it goes as far as it will (or as far as you want), then bring it back the other way down to about 25ms then kick in your tune.

muchos fun :D

using this technique you can pretty much make your own ed up abstract tune.. cut a kick from one track, some hats from another, and some squelchy noises from some scratching.. it can really with your head. especially if you get your headfones plugged in as a mic on the mixer and make stupid noises!
