TARRENTELLA & REDANKA
Chris Bourne and Andy Holt met when they were both signed to Whoop! Records. Chris was Tarantella. Andy was Redanka. They shook hands like men and Tarrantella:Redanka was born. Then began the amalgamation of their tribal-tech sound that has brought them worldwide acclaim. Together they have collaborated with artists such as Danny Tenaglia on the DATAR project for Hooj, and with Satoshi Tomiie, as Graffik, and Sander Kleinenberg, as SKTR. Their remixography consists of work for Way Out West, Derrick May's 'Strings of Life', Andy Ling and Tilt.
They are currently pursuing other projects alongside their existing commitments. Chris is collaborating with a variety of other artists, on his aptly named Me and Our Friends project, that resulted in the hot hypnotic balaeric promo of 2003, ‘Ménage A Deux’, that is to get a full release this summer. Andy, meanwhile, has been signed by Rip for an album as Situation 2wo to explore all his obvious talent. He has also continued to produce Situation 2wo singles for the label, including the classic song ‘If u can’t sleep’, and John Digweed’s favorite record of 2003, ‘Way2tite’which also featured on Deep Dish’s Toronto Global Underground mix compilation.
In addition to this, they have released another Tarantella on Whoop with Saffron on vocals. Andy, as Redanka, has also completed his latest single ‘In A State’, featuring his own vocals! It is being promoed for WMC 2004 and the dub is already on Dave Seaman’s new Renaissance mix compilation
More amazingly DATAR, that is Danny Tenaglia, Andy and Chris have finally got it together, with Lanni featuring on vocals, to complete the long awaited follow up to ‘B’. With the demise of hooj, it has fallen to us at Rip to put out ‘U’.
At the same time, Chris and Andy have been inundated with demands to DJ all around the world. They have taken their sound to such far-flung, exotic places as Japan, Finland, Hong Kong, Greece, Aruba, Argentina and Indonesia. They have been invited to play in such legendary clubs as Pacha in Ibiza, Home in Sydney, Centro in Singapore and on the Terrace at Space in Miami. They have toured South America, the Far East and Australia, and Eastern Europe, have a residency in Pacha London, and are planning their third tour of the States. |
