On a side note:
I find it rather pathetic and depressing that people spend all the time in being SO good at a video game. Im sorry, but gtfo out of your house, get drunk, meet some chick that the next day you regret ing and have to go get checked for STD's... :wtf:

Well, those who are "cyber athletes" and win big prize money in video game tournaments spend so much time gaming for a reason ;)

Prizes
Prizes will be awarded as follows:

For each tournament, all of the $10 entry fees go into the pot.

The pot will be divided among the top 3 players at a 70/20/10 ratio.

Example: If 412 people enter the MvC2 tournament, the total pot will be $4120. 1st place will receive 70% of that ($2884), 2nd will receive 20% ($1236), and 3rd place will receive 10% ($412).

They have a lot of tournament casual vids, although it's not Street Fighter 3rd Strike like the video in the first post, this still might be some service to you.

Yea I've been involved with the Street Fighter thang for a couple years now. Daigo is a Street Fighter legened from Japan, anything with a dragon punch and a fireball he'll master and beast at. He's won countless tournaments in Japan and overseas in the USA. Justin Wong is USA's best all around Street Fighter player. He's UNDEFEATED in singles tournaments in Marvel vs CapCom 2: New Age of Hero's over 4 years. Places top five in all other CapCom 2d fighting games. Some major tournaments he'll even win more than one tournament.

And Vlad you'll be happy to know that he resides in New York, but from what I've heard he'll be going to college soon I don't know where. You can stop over by CTF (or better known as China Town Fair, on 8th and Mott street) if you ever want to play him.

Also, there isn't much of an arcade scene left. This year's big national tournament (Evolution) was held on consoles (Dreamcast's, Playstation's etc, etc). Playing Street Fighter, or any fighting game will never be as popular as any First Person Shooter or Real Time Strategy game. In SF, there aren't many chances to win over a thousand dollars (infact I think Evolution is the only time that happens). But from what I understand, playing FPS's with all it's corperate sponsership's one can earn that much at any tournament. Which is another problem, no one sponsors arcade tournaments. CapCom doesn't care (they're making more money on games like Devil May Cry), SNK has fallen off the earth (SNK vs CapCom? Worst game ever), the only decent company would be Sammy (makers of the Guilty Gear series) does well in Japan but I'm unsure about the US although there is a presence.

I used to be into the scene much more than I am now. I hardly play anymore if ever, and I hardly go to tournaments just to see old friends that I only get to see once a year.

[/retrospect]

Good day ya'll.

Then the rest of the movie was about 2 hit combos some where amazing to pull off but then i got bored of the same .LOL

Its worth the d/l waiting time if you have high speed internet....it took me 32 mins to d/l 300+Mb

That was crazy.

And about people spending all day getting good at video games, what is the difference between people playing video games and sports? There are major events where large cash prizes are given away. Not to mention companies that sponsor teams and players. AMD, Pentium, NVIDIA, and even Subway all sponsor counter-strike teams. If you check out events like the CPL, where $100,000 prizes are given away, and people come from all over the world to compete, why shoudn't people practice to be able to play a game for a living?

There are counter-strike players being paid 50,000 dollar a year salaries to play the game, not to mention the cash prizes they collect at major events.

I would imagine there are similiar things going on with other widely played games.
