Hey guys,

When I enable my dial up connection, when it connects this window pops up saying "C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntdel\staff.html" Also a DOS like window comes up with I think the same thing that says .exe at the end, I always close the windows fast.
I ran a virus check, spyboy and ad-ware. It still comes up.

Is it a virus?

I looked on google, but theres nothing about this particular "thing" I have.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Emil

whatever it is, it doesnt sound right, delete it and see what happens.

check ur startup with msconfig etc

I found out that it's the "bestfriends" virus associated with AIM. I found 3 different websites which show you how to fix it, but none of their ideas worked. They all say to go to safe mode-cmd prompt, then to delete the files from Cd\windows\system 32. But none of those files are there. Here's the page I found: http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=...Google%2BSearch

It has me stumped. :conf:

sounds like you have a doozy of a problem there ..

if you know when you got this virus, then the best thing to do would be go through your folder and sort all your folders and files by the last time it got modified (or when it first entered you computer).

then if you find any suspicious .exe or .dll files, then delete it.

OR you can delete all the unnecessary junk in your startup in msconfig command.

you probably can't access your registry with the command?? the program probably blocks that from you.

i'll think of some more stuff later.

how do you do the msconfig command? :)

Wow! You are so smart! I should just throw out the instructions I found on how to get rid of the virus and wipe my computer clean! I should also delete my antivirus software that I am currently using, because heaven forbid that I accidently clicked on a link and d/led the virus.
But you're perfect, you don't make mistakes, right?

Can you offer me similar advice regarding love?

which OS are you running??

if you're running 2000 or XP, there is a text file (forgot the extension. i think it was .log. not sure) located either in the root Windows or Windows/system32 directory.

but if you do find it, usually your startup junk when windows starts is at the extension HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE(or HKEY_USERS)/SOFTWARE/WINDOWS/CURRENTVERSION/RUN/....

i'll try to find it l8r .. at work right now. i can't think of it at the top of my head.
