The German producers and DJs Alex Sword & John Chevalier (Boris Pipiorke & Tobias Menguser) are an important part of the German techno scene. They began to cooperate about 4 years ago and built up their own common music-studio in November 2001.
During the last 12 years they had together more then 130 releases in electronic music in Germany and abroad. Their DJ-career brought them to countries like the U.K., Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Poland, the USA, Hungary etc. and e.g. Tobias played at the Mayday some years ago.
They had their first release as Alex Sword & John Chevalier in March 2002 on the just relaunched German label Phuture Wax (the label of Tom Wax). The track Daumenschraube was a favourite tune in DJ-cases e.g. of DJ Rush, ..... The highlight of this record was that DJ Rush played it at the Siegessule at Loveparade 2002 in Berlin. It was furthermore licensed to the very successful U 60311 compilation compiled by DJ Rush. The second release of Sword&Chevalier is called Hallucination and was released on January 9th 2003.
Before their cooperation as Sword&Chevalier started, Tobias released several vinyls as John Chevalier on Phuture Wax between 1996-1998. Furthermore he had different projects on German and foreign labels (Overdrive, Experiment Grooves UK, Ultra USA etc.)
Boris had a couple of releases on the labels: Compressed (managed by Michael Burkat), SOK, GAMB, Intensiv and Shokoy.
With their common project Sword&Chevalier and the release Daumenschraube they also started to relaunched their DJ-career. They had bookings e.g. at the Streetparade in Zurich, were they played on the colors of life lovemobile and on SFDRS-Radio. Besides they played at Ubar in Frankfurt (U 60311), Airport in Wrzburg and in several clubs during the Phuture Wax Relaunch Tour 2002.
