Have 3000k/256k Cable
Would rather have 3000/384k DSL(I don't pay for it :D )
About to get 5000k/2000k FIBER OPTIC w00t!!!
Lol they are laying the fiber optic as I speak all over our town.

My work desktop is connected via 100Mbps link to a Cisco Catalyst switch which backhauls into the core network via a GigE trunk. The core network is MPLS based and comprised of many OC-192/STM-64 interfaces utilizing Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) technology.
At home it's cable @ 5Mbps/1Mbps |

Cable is the faster one, although I did hear someone say something about a different type of dsl which is faster then Cable? I dont know but if you had to pick go with Cable for sure.

I had Dial-UP(AOL)boy was it a major pain in the ass. I couldn't do with it, all the times it disconnects, having to dial in a connection which took forever,tying up the phone line, and in slow as a snail. This was like over 4 years ago, I now have had Cable for a pretty long time.
I dont know exactly what my d/l:u/l speed is, but on the pic of those two small computers by my clock(im pretty sure you know what im talking about)it says 100.0 Mbps.

DSL 1.5 M up / 384 down, better deal than cable around here and A LOT more reliable... the cable goes out around here in the spring / winter a lot because of the weather (along with the power) but you'll notice that even when your power goes out the phone lines still work. same is the case with DSL, my internet still works even when the power and cable doesn't. all said, i do miss the T3 from college and the good old days of 99' napster:D
and about the "different" DSL, they are developing another updgrade to DSL which will make it much faster than cable can go. i think in the future cable will eventually become obsolete. if i can find the article on the "next generation" DSL i will post it! |
