I have a m3d with a tonearm that is completely unbalancable because it pulls to the right everytime
i took it to a repair shop and they said it would cost 260 + to fix it!!
is it worth it?
Dirk W.
More chances than not, your repair shop is full of . Try adjusting the top torque screw on the tonearm gyro. I guarantee that is your problem. If I am correct, you probably just need to loosen up the outside ring a little bit with a small flathead screwdriver.

That'll be 100 dollars

the worse comes to it, you have to replace the tone arm, which i believe cost around 90 bux, get a small local electronics store guy to solder it for you (i had that done for 5 bux on a mixer)

i had the same problem, yeah, just adjust the screws on top of the TA and you'll be cash money records

Agreed

Ive had this happen live a couple of times, it just tightens itsef up over time naturally.
scared the out of me when the stylus just went nuts and headed for the label.
Total pain in the ass, but very easy to fix.

Dont ever go to that shop again!!

thats not it
I have screws on one side that is un-unscrewable, I've already had this happen to me with a mk5
Dirk W.
Dude, whatever you just said makes no sense. I have 2 m3d's and there is a screw on top of the tonearm gyro.

Man you got top shop around. A couple posts down i talked about how water spilled into my pitch control. it shorted out the pitch board and i now need to take it in to get fixed. My first quote was $250 for labour and $60 for the part. I called another place and they quoted less then half that price.

ing audio repair is like car repair so many places over charge by so much. just shop around.
mndeg
there is one screw on top and 2 on the side on on each side
one is STUCK in so the whole thing drifts to the right, you CANNOT get the screw out no matter what

and it took me 40 dollars just to get an estimate, i cant go around looking for estimates

Special_K
paying for estimates? are you kidding me? Man so far i have called 5 diffrent shops highest price an hour for labour was 150 and lowest was 25. I have not brought my damaged deck into 1 single shop and i havnt payed a dime.

40 for an estimate??? damn you getting ripped off man especially since you got such a simple problem.
