Just wondering what you people think about this set that I just made. Unfortunately i dont have it ready for download yet... I'll update this post later when I do have it available for you all to download. I just wanna raise an interesting question though.
I know everybody is entitled to thier own opinion hence the name of this thread. I'm hoping to get a wide variety of responses to this thread concerning the topic of it.
I'm a local dj who is known to incorporate a lot of lesser known old school classics from our past time. Usually mixing it in with a few of the newer ones as well. I think its interesting to look for qualities of acid trance in the new stuff thats coming out these days. Like remixes of Jon the Dentist, Mandala, and other Old skool representers . That way I have a little bit of variety, some for the older crowd and some for the newer crowd. there is always one or two people out there who appreciate it I'm sure. I'm known for playing acid trance from 99-01 era with some new stuff and thats what I get booked for.
It seems like these days to me all the monster trance hits are all starting to sound the same. Trance seems to have hit an end to its evolution. It seems like every new track that comes out sounds familliar like something you've heard before but can't quite place it .
Plus too many djs are playing the newest stuff that just came out without reguard to the quality in it, just so that thier whole set is from 2004. Really everybody is startin to sound the same. I heard rumors that other people sort of feel the same as I do about it. Also that djs have gone back to thier milkcrates to pull out the old records and spin the other side.
Anyhow I just think that older trance is gonna make a comeback eventually... either that or the newer stuff is going to start to take on a lot of the characteristics of the older. Also I think its great when djs pull out there older records because I'm all about that too.
I just wondered if anybody else hear felt differently or the same. I know I missed a few points that i wanted to make too... hopefully its brought up by somebody else.
Anyhow heres that tracklist for that mix I just made yesterday.

Cequenza "Sonic Blue (Jon Johnson Rmx)

Seriously..in all seriousness (x2), paragraphs. Please? There are unique tracks coming out this year, but you have to go beyond the "monster tunes" to find it. The classic trance, uplifting, or whatever you want to call it, has been getting pretty repative however. I've found I have to branch out into other genres to get what I'm looking for. I still think a lot of the new tunes, no matter how much they sound similar to others, can still sound amazing in live sets though.
