bio:
Indulge yourself with the bliss of something beautiful and melodic, yet so dirty and obscene.

Pavel (Paul) Vitally Komarov, known under DJ alias CKYTEP, is native of Moscow, Russia, and got an early start into the world of EDM influenced by the early work of Scooter, Marusha, U-96, DJ Hell and Carl Cox. Since the very first wave of such genre into the country in the late 1980’s/early 1990’s, Pavel came to find the EDM sound to be captivating and capable of making an effect on a person as no other genre can.

During Pavel’s presence in Russia and the change of country’s political state, new forms of culture slowly began taking it’s form and being accepted. Slowly, the EDM movement began taking its shape. A dedicated radio station would broadcast DJ sets from Germany, the Netherlands, Britain and other parts of Europe. Regular music broadcast stations gave top productions a chance of play on their shows as well. The variety of European countries and their influences to different EDM categories allowed Pavel to widen the knowledge and study stylings of Trance, Techno, Drum-n-Bass, House on a daily basis for a period of several years.

In August of 1996, Pavel, along with his family, found their new home in Nashville, TN. Living in a new country was quite a change. At first, it seemed to him that the EDM movement was close to being non-existent, and attempts to follow the direction of same artists and follow their work became impossible, but in a few years time, Pavel found the underground scene where EDM was played live. He was able to witness a DJ at work, live, for the first time, as he was never able to do in Russia.

Within a couple of years Pavel closely followed many local DJ’s around as well as worldwide known talent coming in surrounding areas. He was especially influenced by progressive sounds of Gianna Lavarda and Jason Bell at their Outer Limit residency, who in the summer of 2002 introduced him to the art of DJing and taught Pavel the basics.

Vast experienced in EDM culture allowed Pavel to introduce everyone to a mix of two sides of the world, that no one else would be able to showcase. Combining more melodic, trance dominated European sounds and dirty rolling progressive bass lines that Pavel found so addictive from the tracks that influenced him on the US soil, CKYTEP began earning himself a solid and respectable place in the EDM scene as a DJ. His own unique blend of progressive trance/breaks/house, with a hint of melodic trance, techno and house takes a listener into the incredible journey of sound as CKYTEP fills his sets with incredibly dirty and filthy bass lines yet making it look stunningly beautiful.

In a short time Pavel earned a residency in Murfreesboro based club “Energy” and was frequently featured as a guest DJ in most of the top clubs in Nashville area such as: NV, Excess/Orbit, Kiss, Katatonik, Outer Limit, and Asylum. He has also been featured several times at Cookeville’s 88.5 “Electronic Groove Show” and Vanderbilt’s radio station. He played along side such artists as John B, Sage, Wes Reed, Gianna Lavarda, Jen Lasher, Scott Nelsen and many other local and out of state DJ’s.

As CKYTEP’s experience as a DJ grows day by day, his journey through over 15 years of EDM on both sides of the world allows Pavel to invite everyone around him to take a trip into something different. Do you want to find out how something so dirty can be so beautiful
