Thoughts on this? Hopefully this will be as impressive as their other three albums :)

quote:
Masters of reinvention, rave stalwarts The Prodigy have undergone another remarkable facelift for their fourth album, Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned. For band leader Liam Howlett, this mutation was less about ambitious experimentation and more the result of crucial damage control: the band's disastrous 2002 comeback campaign, spearheaded by "Baby's Got a Temper" found the band stagnant and on the verge of self-parody. Howlett's response was to scrap the sessions, hunker down with a laptop and hammer out an album that held spontaneity as a virtue. And while the old touchstones--the propulsive breakbeats of old-skool hip-hop, the brooding menace of punk-rock and acid-house--are all here sporting a fresh chrome gleam, here they're joined by new influences: everything from crunk hip-hop to Aphex Twin's "Windowlicker" bubbles beneath the surface of "Girls". Maxim and Keith Flint are absent, replaced by a bizarre roll call of stars--Liam Gallagher, Juliette Lewis, Twista--and obscurities… anyone remember the Ping Pong Bitches? Not that it matters: this is Howlett's album, and whether he's rewiring Shocking Blue's "Love Buzz" as Middle Eastern-tinged acid techno on "Phoenix" or clashing with Kool Keith on "Wake Up Call", he sounds back on top of his game. --Louis Pattison

its getting very mixed reviews. some like it, some don't.
prodigy get me into electronic music, so i'm definently grabbin it to see if they can be just as innovative as before.

yeah, not all like this album.
something different it is.

i personally havent checked any of the tunes, but i am sure i will be disapointed as all new stuff produced today by old school projects is just lame.

i personally love the album.. its different than any other prodigy release yet still manages to have that 'liam howlett' signiture sound. starts off with a great track, spitfire, then goes through a few meh songs, then medusas path is another great track (my favorite on the cd) then the track titled you'll be under my wheels is the next great track on here.. reminds me of (their law) and (voodoo people) with the guitar riffs.. overall i give the cd 7.5/10. good cd, just gets boring pretty fast.

^ are you going to tell me its better then the ones they done before?

if not, then the album is nothing.

I like it a lot, but very break beatish...which is bad at all, innovative!...but weird, i do get tired of it if i keep listening to it a lot (something that never happened with other prodigy works...)

7/10

forget that, read NME.com and read Liam's comments about their 2003 single, much funnier

It's good. It's still definately Prodigy, but nothing can ever top Music for the Jilted Generation.

7.5/10

As an album i don't think it's as good as their others, but there are still some great prodigy songs there. I'm going to be seeing them live on december 2nd so hopefully they'll play some of this new stuff!
