Here's what a terrific individual wrote about Tiesto spinning at the Olympics...I love how he was so optimistic and how he predicted a wonderful ceremony:

***Assuming the stadium is completed on time, the summer Olympics in Athens is going to include a moment of history quite unrelated to sports: DJ Tiesto will be the first DJ to perform in an Olympic games opening ceremony. Of all the Olmpic firsts and Olympics records, this one is the lamest.

Tiesto will spin for 90 minutes during the parade of athletes. Word is that new tracks created specially for the games. Can't you imagine it? As the small squad from Cameroon walks onto the track, some Euro-trance anthem is going to be pumping from the PA system. Should fit really well. No word yet on where the DJ booth will be, or if broadcasters will go back and forth between the parade of athletes and close-ups of Tiesto flipping through his vinyl and cueing up records.

Anyhoo, this all goes down on Friday the 13th. Coolfer has got to wonder if Tiesto is superstitious at all. Will it affect his performance? Frankly, I'm surprised the Olympic organizers are starting this trainwreck of a summer games on a Friday the 13th. But, I suppose they can blame the calendar when it all goes to heck in a handbasket.*** From www.coolfer.com/blog

Here's my responce:

Tiesto at the Olympics is a great achievement and an awesome sight for anyone who respects electronic music. Many people enjoyed the energy he brought to the opening ceremony and anyone pitching a fit about how they think it's lame for someone to march and enjoy themselves to a "techno" beat is just refusing to acknowledge any other form of music besides the typical mainstream crap they hear everywhere else. This is different and fresh and is just as worthy of a mention of being a "first" and "record" for the Olympics as any other ones mentioned. Even my grandmother who never heard electronic “club style” music before said she thought it was some of the better opening ceremony music she’s heard and enjoyed watching the Olympians jump and smile to the dance beat. A trainwreck you say? Some idiot DJ is spinning at the Olympics? I guess we should leave it up to you to make sure absolutely nothing new and exciting happens for another Olympic ceremony.

Tiesto is not my fav DJ, but I can't stand these people who cringe at the thought of people accepting trance. One of my friends said "It's just wrong to play techno there" - the thought process of an individual who can't stand change. It all just pisses me off.

It's funny how Tiesto is bashed on regularly and how many bashing threads there are each day. Yet, now there are double the threads on Tiesto and they are filled with nothing but praise. I realize that it's the Olympics, but still. Bunch of hypocrites and band wagon jumpers, jeez.

When you post, should people care about you? Why should anyone post their thoughts on a message board?

I agree wwith what you said.

I kinda have a habit of being a hyocrite at times. But in my defense all I will say is that one some does something goood he/she should be praised and when the suck they should be critizised. I try to be fair and honest in all my opinions. My views and opinions change if the cirumstances allow them to. That said, its important to have different opinions because we can all learn from what learn from what others think. However, the bashing must be intellegent and thoughout not just some stupid one line comment like "he sucks", which so often frequents these forums. Each time I say something contra to popular blief I try to explain my self throughly and not just be a idiot.

In conclusion, Tiesto did a wonderful mix tonight. Before his show I was losing faith in him , however after tonight he has restored my belief and faith in the music again! Not because he performed at the olymkpics but becuase of the music I heard him play tonight and the programming of the mix. Just perfect. Each song I loved and reminded me of what trance should be about, music. It was definetly not the repettive noise I hear him bang out when I bash him.

Bravo Tiesto!!

We've all got personal truths. We drive different cars, listen to different music -- and we don't hate on each other for liking Coke, Pepsi, or something else entirely. At least I hope not.

That's why I gotta say, I ain't the most knowledgeable Tiesto fan but I'm getting this huge deja vu vibe right about now and I too, am proud that he has had this fantastic opportunity to showcase himself as part of the united Olympic spirit -- humans from many nations all over the world coming together -- and get the positivity and fun flowing.

It's the Olympic Games, not the Olympic War :)
