In "Tiesto In Concert DVD", when Tiesto is doing the mix from Flight 643 into Armani & Ghost - Airport. He let these songs beatmatched for about 1 minute and then he put the Flight 643 vinyl into backspin...
I want to know how is he doing this. I cannot do this.
BTW I have SL-1210MK2 deck, Tiesto had SL-1210MK5 decks.
Sorry for my english.

You can't beatmatch the 2 for 1 minute or you can't backspin?

Whats so difficult?

I canīt backspin, ofcourse. When I try to backspin with my hand, the vinyl stops after while... Sorry, its hard for me to describe it in English...

You need to have a "good" gripp on the vinyl and give it a really good pull, or it will just like you said, stop spinning. It's just a matter of force. Ofcourse, if you use slipmats that are really "sticky", it might be a bit harder. Dont be afraid, the decks wont broke.

I wouldn't dare to say that. After all, it's Tiesto, right?
Inertia
you could also power off the turntable to kill the motor's pull on the record, hence longer backspin.

LOL! I think Hailstone just didn't have the right teqnique.
What im trying to say is that there are lots of technically more skilled deejays than Tiesto out there.

beats and beeps
This may be obvious, but i know you had a thread about converting from cds to vinyl...so just make sure you have good slipmats. Your tables might have rubber ones, these arent really intended for djing purposes.

Don't forget, backspining is usually a easy trick pulled when records go out of sync while mixing to prevent the mix sounding like crap.
