As long as it wasn't on when it got wet and you didn't turn it on when it was wet, it will be fine once it dries.

The circuits, at least. Dunno how the screen will react.

wrong - if he wasnt lucky then the water would have gotten in deep enough to with the lcd screen and possibly short the battery circuits

i think recovery is doubtful

Well, just because the water leaked through your laptop, doesn't mean your data is gone. You can try pulling out the Hard Drive and sticking it into another (similar laptop). At least this way you'll get your data back. As far as the laptop goes, you may be able to dry it off and as long as none of he circuits were shorted (by charge) you might be able to get it to work. Though you may have a corrosion later on, which will kill your laptop eventually (if it ain't dead yet)..

That sucks - I left my window open once too, only to drench $5000 worth of Cisco gear - two routers one switch (my CCNA lab... ) :(

Haven't even tested it yet - don't know if it will work.

so I feel your pain...

yeah true the hard drive will still most likely have most of the information coz those things are generally airtight and most laptops have the circuitry for the hdd on the inside... give that idea a try, take the hdd out and put it in another pc
