What's the problem with Oakie ?

Huh, I must be living under a rock or something. I read a mixmag article, and they're dissing oakie because he's making music for the movies ?! What the hell is wrong with that ? Picture and audio togheter makes a wonderful experience no ? They state pretty much that he sold out by going to the USA ? Did I miss something or what ? I read similar things on this board now that I think of it. The man makes some good tunes for them movies, I loved what he did for swordfish lol. What's the problem with oakie ? Did he piss against the Queen's leg or something ? (I would cheer for him if he did that btw ! Royalty should have left the scene centuries ago :O)
Where and when did he actually become a man-whore as he has been called .. ? |

| I've never liked him that much, wasn't really interested in his music. A few nice remixes but that's it for me. |

| Oakie is awful. His last show in Detroit was a disgrace to trance music. The problem is he just doesn't care anymore about what he both produces or plays. In fact, he is not even worth me wasting any more time talking about him. Worst show I've ever seen! |

| People are always dissin' him nowadays, but in every, "how did you get into EDM" threads, over half the responses usually involve one of Oakie's classic Essential Mixes from the '99 World Tour. What he did for EDM and continues to do for it through video games and movie soundtracks can't be ignored. Plus, his new Creamfields CD looks great. I'm bettin' his star in the eyes of many EDM fans will raise again in the future... ;) |

no point of discussion this actually.. everyone with a brain can see that Oakenfold is great.. he`s productions are mindblowing.. his mix-compliations, consists of the best..

I think Oakenfold's Swordfish soundtrack worked really well for the movie. Especially all the action bits, and that phat remix of "Planet Rock" in the club.
Some people who don't like Oakie mean the Paul of today, not "Oldkie". :) |

| I dont like it when people bash oakie, he sucks now, but he did so much for the music, that he deserves respect. Anyways i only joined this forum this summer, and i've seen this same type of thread 4 times... |

hes got a quick residency here in vegas for 6 weeks for a tv show.
plus he dropped some cool ass songs during gkgg. i oved them.
but he does trainwreck often, and his oakie presents show before gdjb is very boring. |

Not really, Oakie has been also good lately for those who listened to Global Gathering, I remember I was in the thread of tracklisting that day and many agreed he was good and some said : Is he coming back or what?
meanwhile, Oakie is Oakie, he's much greater than any bunch of people saying he's not good, he doesn't need it as much as he doesn't care. |
