Problems with soundcard and reason

Ok, so I have a EPoX 8RDA+ motherboard, it's based on nForce 2 so it has a soundstorm soundcard which is good I've heard. I can use a very low latency (2 ms unless I have a lot of other apps on) and it works fine.

However sometimes, often when I haven't used reason for a couple of minutes (even though it has been on) the sound starts to crackle. Kindof like when I use too low latency, but a lot more and also (this is the weird part), ONLY on the right speaker! And also, if I enter the NVASIO menu and just click "OK" (without changing latency or anything) the problem dissappears! It starts to work perfectly again, but then in a few minutes, or if I'm lucky, hours it starts again.
Changing the latency up and down doesn't seem to affect how often this happens, however it does happen more often when I have more programs on and stuff.

I've updated the drivers (in the newest drivers' releasenotes it actually says something about better ASIO support) but it's still there. I've also tested different levels of hardware acceleration for the soundcard, but that doesn't fix it either.

My friend who also has a nForce 2 card has the same problem, it has to be a bug considering how it disappears by just clicking "ok" in the menu.
Anyone else with nForce 2 and a similar problem that has been able to fix it? If so, how?

Edit: of course the problem is the same for other audio programs like Cubase and also Traktor, but I mainly use reason.
