problem with cd-r drive

my cd recorder drive has been givin me recently - nearly everytime i try to record a cd it crashes about half way through...it starts off fine but then after a while the cd drive just completeley stops responding, i cant even open the damn thing after this happens. its fairly new as well - ive had it about 4/5 months.
ive tried different burning software but that doesnt make a difference. so i was wonderin if anyone knows what it could be...maybe somethings loose inside my pc or sumthin  if i cant fix it, ill probably just buy a new one since their pretty cheap. |

what does the burning software tell you is the problem? or does the entire system just crash and you have to reboot?
before you go out and buy a new one, try the warranty. |

nero just stops responding without giving me a message and i have to ctrl-alt-delete its ass.
im probably just gonna buy a new one plus i want a dvd recorder anyway. Is it easy to install a dvd/cd drive in your pc? Is it just a matter of plugging a jumper cable in and it works?
