Small dilemma with cd decks
View this Thread in Original format

Basically I need advice from people who know quite alot about fixing / maintaining /cleaning
cd decks and also from long time users of these decks.

I'm talking about 2 Pioneer older models:
CDJ-100S & CDJ-500 II-LTD

My dilemma is this: I could buy brand new CDJ-100S or..
get 2 used CDJ-500 II-LTD's for the same price.

I also have to make up my mind quite quickly so please - keep the suggestions rolling in!

Thanks in advance, D.

Depends on the condition of the used ones, if they're in good working order then definetly go for them, you'll be happier with those than then 100s.

I have a problem with my CDJ-300. Its the 500 without the loop. If I were you, I'd buy the CDJ100s.

CDJ100's are pants. I would go for the 500's if they are in decent nick :)

i currently have a dnx-1500 and two technics 1200 mk2's and am currently after some cd players. at first i was gonna go after the denon dns 3000 to acompany the mixer. Due to a few hassles with my pay i want to go after something cheaper. I was looking at the Numark Axis 8 and also the Pioneer CDJ100's. Was just wondering what the main differences between these two mixes are and what your opinions are in which one i should go for..Thanks in advance

i read up on the axis 9 and currently have the denon dns-3000 on lay-by. id rather go for the denons, but the question is which one out of the cdj100's and the axis8!?
differences? pros? cons?

forget the axis 8, theres an axis 9, and they are better + do not up like the axis 8. most of the features are the same (with the axis9 having the odd one more here and there) but its mainly the firmware.. apparently the axis8's up a lot.

the main things that the axis 9 has and cdj100 hasn't (and most of them included on the 8 too) are:

touch sensetive jog wheel
scratch cue (and an option for stutter cue.. bleh) - cdj only has stutter
12 effects, including "sleep" which isn't included on most of the top of the range cdj's for some reason.
you can have 3 effects on at once.
realtime scratching (4 modes of)
2 seamless loops
3 hot cues
3000 cue point storage
beatkeeper III (best beat counter in the world. amazing for use with seamless loops and effects)
start/brake speed alteration
not sure on the pitch range on a cdj100, axis 8/9 = +/-6%, 12%, 25% & 100%
keylock (one of the best i have heard)

the pro's of having a cdj100:

it will last a bit longer
