So having visited Chicago and finding out that Virgin records sells vinyls, I now really need some tables. I've read through some threads, and this is what I've come up with... kind of looking for the TA stamp of approval here, since I'm pretty clueless.
Numark TT-200s
Behringer VMX300 mixer
Technics RP-DH1200 headphones
Assumine slipmats are pretty generic
Now my question is, is it possible to hook this up to a computer, instead of an amp? I have a pretty nice soundcard with different input things (although I don't think midi would work here). (Hercules Game Theatre XP, if you were wondering). Easiest thing would be to use that for now, instead of buying an amp, but I don't know if it's possible. |

| If it has RCA plugs on the back then yea, it's easy. If it only has the 1/8" headphone jack then you need to buy the RCA to 1/8" converter. Inexpensive piece and solves the problem. |

| You probably already know this, but you dont need an "amp" you can just hook your mixer up to your stereo, unless of course you dont have a stereo...you just use your computer as one. (which alot of people seem to be doing now) |

Great - thanks for the help, guys.
I'm guessing that since no one said anything about the equipment, those should work.
Now I just hope I can find a place that sells them... |

by the end of the day you will probably have at least 5 replies telling you to buy technics..... :p
tt200's: good starter deck, great for the price.
behringer mixers: stay away. have a look at the basic pioneer & vestax mixers, they are solidly built.
headfones: technics are pants at anything but decks. have a look at sonys, pioneers, and sennhiesers. check the headfones thread for details

| iv used everything above and the only thing i would consider getting would be the 200's. behringer is crap see my F**king Behringer thread. and your probly better off with sony's in my opinion. But anyways if i were you i would save up for tt-500's a good mixer and decenent headphones. its balls haveing to buy new stuff a year later but if you got the 500's its not gonna ass rape you. anyways theres my 2 cents |

Hm... looking at mixers, I'm now thinking of Vestax PCV-150 or PCV-002. The Pioneers didn't look too appealing to me...
Oh - looks like I can afford TT-500s. Won't have much left, though - college tuition is awful.
Looked at some headphones threads/reviews. Beyerdynamic DT770 looks usable.
Thanks for the help so far! |
