i was a backstroker... if there had been a 50 m longcourse back i would have been great... but in college they mainly have 200 back and i wasnt as good at that. i also did fly, sprint free and IM. my club team when i was growing up all trained distance so that was what i was accustomed to doing then but that isnt what my body is built for... i've been thinking of joining a masters team lately to get back in shape again but i dont want swimmer shoulders (i think they are ugly.)

First, you say running a marathon would be easy, now this. You're starting to sound like TTA. :nervous:

Owned? If you read the whole article, Thorpe's leg was faster, he was just too far behind the American team. :wtf:

and you obviously didn't read the rest of that marathon thread because i corrected myself. i didn't mean that it was easy, but that its more than attainable for anyone that actually wants to achieve it...

Bring on next summers Ashes series and we'll show you that we're now better than you :D

The English can swim? Bull, your lot are too afraid to take showers or baths, let alone swim.

And then there's the problem of ghost white skin in the sun!

And cricket?!! Hahahaha, seriously this is why the world loves smashing England so much. You beat the test teams in the world and then think you are the best and then you come to Australia again for another hiding. When was the last time England beat Australia in cricket? Like 1924?

Thorpey is gay, so he's off limits anyway.

And Thorpey still owns that Phelps mummy boy idiot, he just got let down by his team in the relay.

It is quite amusing to me how everyone seems to be trash talking Phelps (and Thorpe a bit) as if they were trash talking each other.

I saw several interviews with both and neither one of them was anything but respectful to the other when asked about them. Phelps has said several times that Thorpe is "the man" (that is an actual quote) and Thorpe has said nothing that I have heard that was anything other than respect for Phelps' talent.

Neither one of them is what Mark Spitz was in 1972, and frankly, no one will likely ever be able to match that performance: 7 races, 7 gold medals, 7 world records.
