Hey,
I was wondering how DJs use more than two turntables at a time? they do use like 3 or 4 tables sometimes dont they? sorry if it seems like a dumb question but im not as experienced as many of you, im just wondering...thanks

I would think the 3rd TT would be used for scratching, or just cutting in samples...
Usually, (i think) more than 2 TT's are used for Techno/Hip hop sets.
I guess drum'n'bass/jungle could also use more than 2...
But for trance etc, I don't think it would be useful to use more than 2 unless your a freak and want to cut in lots and lots of samples

If you're good enuff it can be cool with 3 tables for techno too

like you can half blend in a very known song which people don't wanna hear long but like to recognise, and then during that "transition" you blend in the new record and get both other records out of there

Yeah exactly that, using just the best parts of three songs and mixing them into a different and interesting sound. See Carl Cox for an excellent demonstration!

holy ! Three table mixing is ing amazing!!!!!!! (gezz..I am swearing alot lately) anyway, check out Sven vath on ID-T....that was an amazing techno set with three decks.....also Chris Liebing at love parade was three deck mixing if I am not mistaken....I love that sound.....so raw and powerful.....

oh and picotto does some three table mixing sometimes......when he does it is amazing!!!!! I wish more DJ's would do this....but it takes lots of skill though......So alot of big DJ's don't bother, cause they get there money no matter if it's 2 or three decks.....:P

Most of the times the DJ's using 3 decks are very expirienced, it's very hard to mix 3 sources at a time, you need lots of skill and expirience to do that.

dj alonzo.... you're kidding, please tell me your kidding. How about Richard humpty Vision? Any way back on topic, the live set Donald Glaude recorder earlier this year at Buzz is washington, DC was done on 4 tables. They placed him on the main stage so everyone could see him. And that man went to town, constantly picking up and putting down records. I thing of beauty I tell you : ) now back off topic... I'm going to see bab boy bill at origin up in baltimore maryland on thursday night : ) I can't wait : ) I'll let you all know how it is..... and on oct 5 Donald glaude will be spinnin a 6 hour set out on the patio at buzz, probably only have 2 tables out ther but I'll let you know that one too.
