Do English People Wash?

I'm pretty curious because it is a well established fact around the world that English people don't take baths or showers.
I was wondering if this is because of the cold weather in England?
I had an English mate that didn't wash for 1 week and we ended up washing him with the garden hose because we couldn't handle it.
Also, why is your football team so crap?
